This would only be one of many encounters with 'R', should things go her way. Heh. Ha. HA. HAHAHAHA.--As I sat in my office, I looked to Vivien. She looked meek, sort of out of it. "Hey, kid, what's your deal?" I asked, turning towards her. "Don't tell me you're still fretting over me.""I am, Rolt. You're concerning me. You've never killed anyone before, yet you almost tried to shoot down Pidge, and you're so aggressive recently, what with Rixos and R... I think you should get to a doctor."I rolled my eyes, smirking at her. "You know me so well, and how much I hate those bastards." she frowned."It won't be Norian. I know good Ravnican doctors that--""Died in the War." I interrupted. She looked at me, then to the ground. Suddenly, I felt nausea overcome me - and in a blink, my second revolver was pointed at Vivien. "Urk..!" I grunted, straining to push my arm the other way. Vivien looked at me in surprise. "S-Skylar?!""I-It's not me, Vivien. You've gotta trust me." I felt my finger start to squeeze - it took all my willpower to not pull it.Unwilling Participation Sorcery Gain control of target creature until end of turn. Untap it. It gets +2/+0 and gains haste until end of turn. "Run, Vivien. Go!" I shouted at her. "No, Rolt, we'll figure this out. Just stay cal--" my finger pulled the trigger, and an audible "click" was heard. No bullets fired.WHAT? Rolt's Triumph Instant Counter target spell. If you control a Rolt planeswalker, draw X cards, where X is that spell's converted mana cost. His triumph was not in solving the case, but in outsmarting the perpetrator.I smirked. Whatever was happening, I had outsmarted the new voice. In it's moment of surprise, I walked - as far away as I could. I walked through the eternities, and all was normal. Until I felt it brush against me. C'mon Vivien, follow me..!---Vivien looked around as her boss planeswalked away. "R-Rolt? Rolt!" she said, soon performing her own planeswalk - where could he have gone?---We arrived here. All this time of stalking, waiting, participating... it was Our time to play with this crew.Let the games begin.Detective Rolt has reincarnated to become The Ominous!

Just so people know, at this point I have two commonly known locations. Of course, it's not imperative you use them at all, as The Ominous is not always there obviously - but it may be possible to find him in Aiden's old shack or in Rolt's office.

gurfafflekinsIt had been an uncomfortably long time for Rolt's latest client. She'd asked for a list, and given half of his payment already. She might have suspected he had to go undercover, but enough time had passed where he hadn't shown up at the designated location where she suspected he might have tried to flee the city. So she had taken matters into her own (metaphorical) hands. A few locks on the windows, enough shadow, and one agreement with a peculiar wizard later, and a mix of flesh, muscle, and distilled horror dropped into the detective's office. 'R' herself was a distance away, but she had her methods to see what her latest servant was doing. Which at the moment, it was beginning to investigate the scene. {Attack Card - Unceasing Investigator}

Popcornia Rolt's office was seemingly empty. The next time the homonculus would turn it's attention away from the desk with files scattered all over it, and when it looked back, there'd be a figure floating in front of the desk. It pointed at the homonculus' eye, and smirked. "...It's so impolite to speak to Us through these lackeys. Though, We suppose it's no better than what We've been doing." it said. "R, was it? Please, join Us."
Ominous Recruiter Creature - Spirit Wizard , You may activate one of another target permanent's abilities without paying that ability's cost until end of turn. "Join Us, won't you?"2/4 Activate it's ability once and I'll kill it - otherwise, they bounce. Unceasing Investigator: First clause feels pretty good but honestly not a big deal, activated feels a little weird but alright. 9/10.

gurfafflekinsThe homonculus simply stared at the spirit for a moment, it's eye adjusting automatically as it attempted to make sense of what it was witnessing, or waiting for it's master to instruct it. The servant wasn't totally vulnerable however, a soft shimmer in the air behind it indicated something had been sent along with it, likely to deal with unexpected events. Such as this one. It's answer was quick, however. The homonculus pointed out the window it had come through, towards a rooftop several roofs and a street over from their current position. It seemed 'R' was willing to talk. {Spoiler}{Response Card - Liege of the Evershield} Ominous Recruiter: This ability can get extremely stupid, given the right deck. It feels like a mixture of Tommy and Spike effect, but I'd err on the side that this shortcut is too good. Novel idea however. 4/10

Popcornia The spirit shook it's head. "We're afraid not. We do not bend to whims, let alone someone who sends such... miserable lackeys. At least Ours fight back against Us." it said.Dismissive Gesture Instant Creatures get -1/-1 until end of turn. Kills your thing, weakens the thing I can't kill unless it does kill the other. Liege of the Evershield: I mean, seems alright design wise. A body+psuedo hexproof is pretty alright though. 9/10.

gurfafflekinsAnother moment would pass, the homonculus silent as it lowered it's arm. If it's master was listening, it was likely they had been incensed by the insult. It was obvious the two servants 'R' had sent were not the most capable of communication, one of the next world, and one half in it, among other things. So it should have come as no surprise when yet another servant joined the mix. Scratching up through the windowsill, an imp, diminutive, wingless, but at least a foot tall, made it's way into the office. Maneuvering over some furniture, it walked onto Rolt's desk, and quickly fished out some paper, and wrote quickly. "You have my attention." -R{Response Card - Generous Imp} 1. When it enters the battlefield, puts a -1/-1 on the Recruiter. When the rest and it die, they'll put counters on the recruiter. Dismissive Gesture: A worse Make Obsolete, in both mana and what it targets. 2/10

Popcornia The spirit paid no mind to the imp. "We are not one to be trifled with. We are leagues beyond you, winged one. If We have your attention, We do not care. We do not care if We do not have your attention. You wanted a list of Deities?" the spirit becomes more opaque, red swirling in it's colorless body. "Then you will add one to your list. Us." and in a flash, the room was engulfed in flames.
Burning Apathy Instant ~ can't be countered. ~ deals 3 damage to each creature. Generous Imp: Doesn't feel so generous. This is lots of -1/-1 counters for a cheap cost and how it keeps on going, especially at uncommon. 4/10.

gurfafflekins It was time to leave. Quickly riffling through it's belongings, the imp threw something at an opposing wall from the Spirit. A bit slow on it's feet, the homonculus nearly didn't make it before the inferno caught up to it, straggling as it leaped through a portal that opened on the wall, fire just peaking through the opening before it closed, shut. {Response Card - Exit Strategy} Several roofs away, in the other direction than what was indicated, the burned homonculus fell to the floor of an abandoned storefront, sluggish as it attempted to right itself. The sound of several blades being unsheathed was heard as it looked up, before someone made a gesture. "Not yet. Let's see what it saw first. Then take precautionary measures." 'R' looked on at her latest servant, burnt, beaten, and definitely a no condition at the moment to server her further. This 'Us' was going to be a problem. Burning Apathy: Uncounterable damage spells exist in spades, but boardwipes less so. It nukes everything, and is triple red, so maybe it's expensive enough given the alternatives are only 2 mana lower in cost. 8/10

Popcornia As soon as it started, the flames were extinguished. Nothing was damaged - even the papers on the desk remained intact. All except for one, of course. The spirit-like being remained in front of the desk for a moment, before vanishing.Exit Strategy: No card response - can't think of one mechanically, and storywise there's no reason for The Ominous to bother responding - you can have it. As for the card, seems fine. I don't exactly know the semantics of exiling things from the command zone (said the commander player), but probably works as intended on some level. 9/10.

A chilly wind pushes through the Arena, seeming to stop and linger at Rolt's abandoned office. A pale-skinned blonde woman in a blue dress, far too light for the chill surrounding her, steps into existence from the winds. Her eyes look at her surroundings, unimpressed with the wasteland and ill-kept building. She wastes no time striding up to the door and giving it a heavy knock. "Hello? Is there a Detective Rolt in this... establishment?" she says with some disdain on the final word. "I am Inspector Aevia Glais, and I have some things I'd like to discuss with him."Cold Introduction Instant You may put a creature card with converted mana cost X or less onto the battlefield, where X is the number of creatures attacking you. Until end of turn, that creature gains indestructible and can block any number of creatures each combat.

"W' j'st d'n't c'r' f'r v'w'ls." - ZzrxThe detective looks at you, expecting you to say something. You're probably not the first woman to walk into his office like this.Cold Introduction: Ouphe. I uh... this feels red, a la Sneak Attack, but the whole defense thing makes it not red? Either way, getting stuff for free like this is probably too amazing at two mana. Maybe 3 or 4 to be more on par? 'cause suddenly, your opponent is playing red deck aggro, turn two has like two tokens and a dude, suddenly you have a 3/3 that can kill most if not all the stuff... dunno. I honestly have no idea so gonna default to a 7.5/10 --> 8/10. On my response here: Sorry for the boring "counterspell" response but like I don't know how to rate it, I don't know how to defend. Feel free to give me the lower score for being dreadfully boring. (Also, I know this in nonEnglish would be a pain in the behind.)

I am investigating a significant interplanar heist operation, and I understand one of the suspects has been seen in the area, as I have been told, 'cavorting' about with a Detective Rolt. I would not think Mei Liva to put herself through such conditions, even to evade justice, however. Perhaps you have better information on her whereabouts?" Dokucu, of Mind Legendary Planeswalker - Ominous Dokucu : Choose target creature. Welcome to rules Hell. I don't know if I'm just an asshole or what, but I see stuff like this all the time in custom Magic communities and it just doesn't make a whole lot of sense. In theory, it's a neat idea - in practice... well, let's look at other things that this could say that would have similar effects: - Indestructible/Hexproof: Like you were saying, pretty much the same thing, but this technically does allow it to dodge exile-wipes (y'know, the two or three that exist) - but those are so niche and few and far between. - Can't be sacrificed: This is very niche and doesn't come up all the time, so it could probably be safely ignored for the most part. I believe there's a reason there's not many "can't sacrifice" things out there. - Bounce: This is one that doesn't have an effective replacement. Still, it would probably have to be like Turn Aside more than anything. I get the idea of one card dealing with all of the above, but this isn't it. I like the flavor, though. 4/10.

Lady Mapi I listened to her talk, letting her finish without saying a word."First things first, just call me Rolt."I sat up and looked at her, like how a tiger eyes his prey."I don't know what kind of hungers you're talking about. But you have my interest. I trade in secrets, as you no doubt are aware, and that wine looks fairly appealing."I leaned back, taking a drag off my burning cigarette."Now, let me ask you again: What can I do you for?"---The detective sits in his chair, leaning back. He's curious - but cautious. Not the first femme fatale who's walked into his office and given him an offer. Trade Secret Book Artifact - Clue Whenever a spell or ability an opponent controls causes you to lose life for the first time each turn, draw a card. , sacrifice ~: Draw a card. Grim Trader: I don't know if flying should go on this. I like the idea and can get behind it a lot. Maybe menace/another evasion? Flying just feels a little much. 9/10. Revising my scoring - Flying is only a minor issue with it. 9.5/10 --> 10/10. Final answer. As I sat there, time seemed to stretch and mangle itself. And the poisons in Rolt's blood vanished. He didn't seem to notice."Well, Mr. Rolt, I have a certain thirst, if you get what I'm saying. It's hot and sticky and happens to be flowing in your veins right now."I took control - time to strut my stuff.
"Hello there, little spirit. I see you've stopped hiding."
Consume Dreams - Sorcery - Target player discards two cards. Then search your library for a basic land card, put it onto the battlefield tapped, then shuffle your library. Of course, Hanska would know - no blood ran through Our veins. Time bends to Our will - at least, for our Stalked it does. We ignore Hanska - she is... the least of Our concerns. "Oh, joy. The feline. Tell Us, does death hurt?"Surge of Mind Instant Shuffle your graveyard into your library, then scry 3, draw three cards and lose 3 life. Consume Dreams: Seems pretty good. Discard two is pretty much , and only for a Rampant Growth seems alright. 9/10. No worries about the delay - 'tis just a forum game after all! "Of course it hurts - but it's a good pain."
I grinned.
"Do you have a name to go with that brand new face of yours? Congratulations on sorting that out, by the way."
Chained Rakshasa - Creature - Cat Demon Menace If a player would draw a card except the first one they draw in their draw step each turn, that player puts that card into their graveyard instead unless they discard a card. 4/4Surge of Mind is not OK, I'm afraid - shuffling graveyards into your library tends to be a Sorcery speed thing on non-permanents, for one. On top of that, bumping the rarity to rare from uncommon and adding to the cost does not justify slapping Scry 3 and graveyard-shuffling onto Ambition's Cost and then making it an Instant. 7/10

Rixos knocks at Rolt's door. "Hello? Mr. Rolt? Ms. Vivien? I know our last encounter didn't end very well Mr. Rolt, but I would like to ask you for help. I've met some very misterious people lately. May I come in?" Rixos waits before the closed door. Patient Man Creature - Human Citizen ~ can't attack unless the defending player controls one or more untapped creatures. ~ can't block unless the attacking player controls no untapped creatures. "I will wait until someone comes home."5/5

Hahaha... we are free from this FOOL. We were tired of playing his games.
The detective remains motionless. He vanishes. The door slams in front of her. The windows slam. "We gave you a chance. And We are no mere God."
The room begins to heat up - slowly increasing in temperature. Heat builds and builds and builds - No chains. No restraints.
Possessed Spirit Creature - Demon Spirit When ~ dies, remove all counters from target permanent. , Sacrifice ~: Target player loses 2 life. 1/1
No escapes.
Your puny "card" is nothing. However, it entertains Us - though forgettable. 8/10.

Lady Mapi
A chuckle fills the detective's room. "Perhaps you do not fear death, feline. But how would you fare in the bare realm of unexistence?" We plucked a carcass of a bird from the air. And then it began to flap it's wings, standing up and flying around the room. "You may live through the most terrible of incidents..." but the bird soon squealed in pain as it became erased from existence. "But We are capable of using the pencil of creation to erase you from it."
Ethereal Unraveler Creature - Spirit Whenever a spell or ability an opponent controls causes you to discard a card, destroy target creature that player controls. One good turn of unexistence deserves another. 4/4
Your "card" is interesting. Menacing, however, it is not. 9/10.

mrlozano There is no response from the other side of the door. Our fog then rolls across the land around the merchant. Heheheh...
Time fades away for Rixos. Thing feels wrong, stopped - it's too quiet for him. Then sound returns to him, time turns forward and backward, and he hears words being spoken, though by an unfamiliar voice."...reminding them of their place."then heat radiates from the room. The door is locked, and so are windows. Surely something's wrong.
Chronoshifting Instant Exile target creature. Return it to the battlefield under it's owner's control at the beginning of it's owner's next upkeep.
Your puny incarnation is nothing. However, it does not displease Us. 9/10.

"You know, as far as I can tell... you're all talk. I'm not terribly impressed by parlor tricks."
I offered it my best grin - far too big for Hanska's face, but hey. If you're going to show off, do it in style.
"I think I'll be going. Have fun playing with your toys, little spirit."
---
Mishka, still using Hanska's body, gets up and struts out of the room, effectively ignoring his ominous interlocutor.
Mikhael, Who Is Murder - Creature - Cat Spirit If a spell or ability an opponent controls would destroy a creature you control, instead that player sacrifices a creature. Whenever Mikhael, Who Is Murder blocks or becomes blocked, destroy each creature blocking it or blocked by it. 4/4Ethereal Unraveler is - look, idiot, unexistence is mechanically represented by exiling things, not destroying them. If you can't understand that much, then I can't help you. Thematic idiocy aside, it's an interesting enough card... for a first-timer. Honestly, leave the card designing to Gurfafflekins - he's actually, you know, good at it. A 4.5/10! - Terribly sorry about that; as an apology, I'll double that to a 9/10.

Hahaha... we are free from this FOOL. We were tired of playing his games.
The detective remains motionless. He vanishes. The door slams in front of her. The windows slam. "We gave you a chance. And We are no mere God." "Indeed. It seems you are a foolish god." The icicle shards begin slowly melting away to the magical heat. She waves her hand and dispels them. She carefully walks to the center of the room, ice forming on the ground from each step. With every step, the patches grow larger, growing across the room despite the heat. "So detective Rolt," she spat out. "Your bag of tricks is looking mighty thin, I have to say. It's no wonder Liva got by you so easily. Girl's a natural at breaking into and out of things, but even then, she's just the student."// The ice begins crawling up the walls. The inspector stands at the center of the room. A thousand degrees, a million, beyond? She remains unfazed.Inspector's Calm Instant If you don't control target nonland permanent, it doesn't untap during its controller's next untap step. Then it phases out. (While it's phased out, it's treated as though it doesn't exist. It phases in before its controller untaps during their next untap step.)"I was never there. I was always there." Possessed Spirit - might be a bit cheap for a walker gank (tho with Elderspell who knows anymore) and should be nonland because we all suffer for Dark Depth's sins. 9/10
