Flo00: Thanks for the clarification. I'm sorry I came off as too jokey, I tend to do that. Sorry for being confusingly vague in my original post.

Last Promise Enchantment - Aura Flash Enchanted creature gets +1/+1 and Relied (Whenever this creature blocks or becomes blocked if it would be destroyed this turn remove it from combat instead, tap it and it doesn't untap during your next turn. You gain life equal to the damage this creature would receive from the attacking or blocked creature.)

Thanks for the win.
Design a keyword similar to investigate; that is, it is a keyword action that creates a specific token when the action is performed (it can do other things as well, it just gotta make a token).

Since I have yet to receive word back from hydraheadhunter , I'm just gonna post my entry, and see if it qualifies.
Deliquesce Instant Counter target spell. If that spell is countered this way, drip X, where X is that spell’s mana value. (To drip X, put X Droplet counters in your command zone with “Remove this counter: Choose one— • Target player gains 2 life. • Target player adds . • Target creature gets +1/+1 until end of turn.”)
Droplet Counter--Droplet Remove this counter: Choose one— • Target player gains 2 life. • Target player adds . • Target creature gets +1/+1 until end of turn.

Maybe we will revisit Kaladesh in a time after the revolt. And then we might see something like this. Weaponcraft Scholar Creature - Aetherborn Artificere When Weaponcraft Scholar enters the battlefield, it mechanizes twice. (Put a +1/+1 counter on this or create a 1/1 colorless Servo artifact creature. Then repeat this process.)“Life is to short to fill out forms to get proper permits.”0/1 Aeronaut Amateur Creature - Human Artificer Whenever Aeronaut Amateur attacks, it mechanizes, then you may tap two untapped artifacts you control. If you to, Aeronaut Amateur gains flying untl end of turn. (For this to mechanize, put a +1/+1 counter on it or create a 1/1 colorless Servo artifact creature.)1/2 Ravenous Trainee Creature - Gremlin Artificer At the beginning of each end step, if an artifact was put into your graveyard this turn, Ravenous Trainee mechanizes. (Put a +1/+1 counter on this or create a 1/1 colorless Servo artifact creature. Dying tokens enter your graveyard before they cease to exist.)Sacrifice an artifact: Ravenous Trainee gets +2/+2 until end of turn. 1/2 Production Chamber Artifact , : Production Chamber mechanizes. (Put a +1/+1 counter on this or create a 1/1 colorless Servo artifact creature.): Move a +1/+1 counter from Production Chamber onto target creature. Masterpiece of Recreation Creature - Servo Assembly-Worker Whenever Masterpiece of Recreation or another Servo you control becomes untapped, it mechanizes. (Put a +1/+1 counter on it or create a 1/1 colorless Servo artifact creature.)“You could say I inspire my designes to inspire themselves.” —Renu, aspiring inventor1/1 Rishkar, Consulate Counsel Legendary CReature - Elf Advisor Whenever each creature you control mechanizes for the first time each turn, it mechanizes again. , , Remove a counter from a creature you control: That creature mechanizes. (Put a +1/+1 counter on it or create a 1/1 colorless Servo artifact creature.)2/2 Since all the commons with fabricate have fabricate 1, it's kind of hard to design commons with mechanize.

Well...a creature token is still a token, and I thought it was unfair that Black gets all the armies. That said, not super sure on the wording of this card. Creating 0/0 tokens, then giving them counters after they exist feels like they should just die. That's how Amass does it though, so I guess it's correct to how WotC rules things?

It works because the complete effect plays through before creatures die so considering the game the tokens never really have zero toughness in the first place.

Judging's done and virdicts delivered: great designs y'all. I'll admit this one challenge was a bit off prompt for the thread, but I hope everyone's equally as happy with the results as I am. ameu | Automate X | Whenever you untap ~ create X colorless Automaton artifact tokens with "Two generic: this creature becomes a 1/1 colorless construct creature until end of turn," and "Two generic, sacrifice this artifacte: add a colorless." | {Sample Card} | Tarhim, Automaton Generator Four generic and a colorless Legendary Artifact Creature - Human
Tarhim cannot be blocked. Automate 2.
FT: I never meant to create these scraps living things to harm anyone, but sure they are useful for me than anyone else is.
1/4 |
| {Judegment}Automate seems a bit too niche to keyword. I can understand the first ability you gave to the tokens; they become nice mana sinks to turn into attackers in the late game, but the second half of the ability baffles me. There aren't many times in magic where I'd want a colorless mana specifically, and there are even fewer times when I'd want to filter two generic mana into a colorless mana. It just feels to uncommon a need to put it in a keyword.
You've also put the trigger into the keyword, meaning that if you want a card that 'automates 1' when it enters the battlefield, you've built yourself into a corner. I think Automate would be a better mechanic if each card could decide when it happens, because even if you end up only creating cards that automate when you untap them, that flexibility is there for the next person.
About your sample card specifically, I like it but I think its over- costed: a 1/4 for five is gonna be a touch sell and its not saved by its evasion and the automate 2.
Keep at it.
| Nonagon Infinity | Consecrate | Create a colorless Idol artifact with, "as this enters the battlefield, choose a color. This counts as one toward your devotion toward that color." | {Sample Card} | Sunblessed Priestess A generic and a white Creature- Human Cleric
Lifelink Whenever you gain life for the first time each turn, consecrate.
1/3 |
| {Judgement}Consecrate is an interesting mechanic, although I'm not quite sure what would need to happen in the comprehensive rules changes to make it work properly (not that that matters: that's all backend stuff). It lends itself to potential token devotion strategies, opening up deck design in that vein to possibilities other than the Grey Merchant of Pack Rats that menanced Theos.
The sample card itself is a pretty archtypical Lifegain value piece, but tropes exist for a reason and I'm not knocking it.
| sdfkjgh | Drip X | To drip X, put X droplet counters in your comand zone. Droplet counters have "remove this counter: choose one -- •target player gains 2 life. •target player adds C. •target creature gets +1/+1 until end of turn."
| {Sample Card} | Deliquesce Three generic and two blue Instant
Counter target spell. If that spell is countered this way, drip X where X is that spells mana value. |
| {Judgement}I'mma allow counters since I didn't disallow them before you posted the entry. Droplet counters seem pretty versitile, being able to gain life, generate mana, and buff creatures, and I imagine, that's the point.
A pretty simple counterspell with an upside. I'm not sure why it needs to check that it succeeded in countering the spell, but I guess if it didn't you could target an uncounterable spell with a high mana value just for the droplet counters.
| Flo00 | Mechanize | Put a +1/+1 counter on this or create a 1/1 colorles Servo artifact creature. | {Sample Cards} Weaponcraft Scholar Two generic and a black Creature - Aetherborn Artificere
When Weaponcraft Scholar enters the battlefield, it mechanizes twice.
FT: “Life is to short to fill out forms to get proper permits.”
0/1 | Aeronaut Amateur Two generic and a blue Creature - Human Artificer
Whenever Aeronaut Amateur attacks, it mechanizes, then you may tap two untapped artifacts you control. If you to, Aeronaut Amateur gains flying untl end of turn.
1/2 | Ravenous Trainee A generic and two red Creature - Gremlin Artificer
At the beginning of each end step, if an artifact was put into your graveyard this turn, Ravenous Trainee mechanizes. (Dying tokens enter your graveyard before they cease to exist.) Sacrifice an artifact: Ravenous Trainee gets +2/+2 until end of turn.
1/2 | Production Chamber Three generic Artifact
Three generic, tap : Production Chamber mechanizes. Tap: Move a +1/+1 counter from Production Chamber onto target creature.
| Masterpiece of Recreation Two generic and two white Creature - Servo Assembly-Worker
Whenever Masterpiece of Recreation or another Servo you control becomes untapped, it mechanizes.
FT: “You could say I inspire my designes to inspire themselves.” —Renu, aspiring inventor
1/1 | Rishkar, Consulate Counsel Two generic and a green Legendary CReature - Elf Advisor
Whenever each creature you control mechanizes for the first time each turn, it mechanizes again. Two generic, tap, and remove a counter from a creature you control: That creature mechanizes. 2/2
|
| {Judgement}A generization of the Fabricate mechanic to make things it more flexibly applicable; which works thematically since Kaledesh, now 'liberated' would be a more flexable place to live.
Among your sample cards, I love ravenous trainie the most. The idea of a Gremlin Artificer is so fun, and I can't already can't wait for the hypothetical return to return to kaladesh to see our little gremlin get itself a legendary card to helm an OAA/RDW hybrid commander deck.
| Sanfonier of the Night | Complicate | Create a colorless Puzzle artifact token with "A generc, tap, and sacrifice this artifact: fateseal 1." (To fateseal 1, look at the top card of an opponents library. You may put that card on the bottom of that players library.)
| {Sample Card} | Intricate Puzzle Two generic Artifact - Puzzle
Two generic and tap: Complicate. A generic, tap, and sacrifice this this artifact: Fateseal 1. |
| {Judgement}Complicate, is a very very dangerous mechanic. There are only ~6 cards with fateseal for a reason, and it's because launtern control is bad enough to play against when it's just using mill. I know letting a mechanic die for the sins of launtern control sucks, but mechanics have been martyred for less.
As for the sample card, its well designed, if a bit undercosted for my cautious tastes.
| kefke | Warband X | Create X 0/0 red Barbarian Army creature tokens, then put a +1/+1 counter on each Army you control. | {Sample Card} | Call of the Kinbond Three generic and two red Sorcery
Warband 2 Creatures you control get +1/+0 and gain haste until end of turn. |
| {Judgement}A different take on the Army mechanic, instead of Amass which gets you one big army, warband gets you several smaller armies. This works for me.
And your sample showcases the redness of the mechanic by letting you attack with your two 1/1 (now 2/1) armies immediately. My only nitpick is that I think its a pip overcosted. It feels like a MV4 card with an MC of 5. Making it an instant for combat tricks or making it warband 3 would kick it up to five in my eyes.
| ameisenmeister | Erect a monument | Put a charge counter on an Obelisk you control. If you don't control one, create a tapped colorless Obelisk artifact token with "Tap: Add a colorless for each charge counter on this permanent," first. | | {Judgement}We might all be grown ups, but you're very much overestimating my willingness to be mature. That's not a strike, just a statement.
Anyway, the mechanic itself is pretty great. It's basically just amass except it creates a mana rock instead of a beater.
Your sample cards are pretty reasonable too. The mana ramp is at the top of the two drop tier list, the blu critter's a nice draw engine, and the white offers you with immediate mana and a combat trick. I guess my biggest complaint is I didn't get to see the red and black takes on the mechanic.
|
{And the winner is...} I'm torn between malchite's Consecrate, Flo00's mechanize, and ameisenmeister's erection erect a monument. All of them have good potential, but I'm going to give it to Nonagon Infinity (malachite) since their mechanic consistantly creates tokens instead of only making them sometimes.

Interesting challenge. Here's my interpretation: Nobility (Whenever this creature is targeted by a spell or ability, you may put a princess counter on it if it has less than three princess counters on it. Otherwise, draw a card.)Stories, news, jewelries, etc.... often revolve around Princesses as the central person/character to the narrative. So I felt it would be wisest to make Princess a keyword that encourages targeting them. Initially to avoid it being too parasitic, I tried added a rider that references how princesses in Disney films get "happily ever after" after all their trials have been completed - on 10 princess counters, you'd win the game, but I found this probably would clog the board too much, so I changed it to represent a broader accumulation of 'wealth' via drawing cards similar to cards like Greed - princesses are generally well-off individuals as far as I know. I initially considered removing princess counters to draw cards to keep the board clean, but that didn't make much sense flavor-wise, so I instead settled on a modal effect that has you add a counter if there's less than three, and draw a card afterwards - I figure the effect is generally slow enough that it can go in all five colors. Note that nobility will trigger on any instance of a spell or ability, not just yours, which opens up room for spell redirecting shenanigans. I believe this is less parasitic than infect and doesn't cause the linear concerns of dungeons because: 1) Creature removal is prevalent across all colors, and even in a color like Blue you can simply bounce the creatures to set an opposing player back. 2) The keyword generally encourages you to target one 'princess' at a time, so even a single princess card will function properly in a vacuum for other strategies like Prowess (Returning Heir), Ramp (Vizier of the Pit), or Prison (Tian, the Rising Consort). Princess "tribal" on the other hand focuses specifically on bringing out the card-draw aspects of the tribe and using it to drown the opponent in card advantage (Kashmi, Dashing Revolutionary). On rare occasions, a card might be flexible enough to do both (Tian, the Rising Consort is an equally valid choice for a princess-matters deck or a control prison deck). While I could've used the Noble type I decided not to because I didn't want to cram the typeline or the keyword more than necessary. I decided the typeline was better suited to representing what the princess was before they were 'crowned' as one (if they weren't one already.) Flavorwise I decided to go with a bit of grit and political struggle to make the cards feel more Magic-y (think similar to how games like Dragon Age handle the struggles of royalty) as opposed to feeling like they're blatant Disney shoutouts. All of the cards take inspiration from or reference real life historical figures that influenced or struggles through major/minor events (though one doubles as a shout out to a fictional character), and I tried to capture the feel of the idea that princesses could be varying levels of political figures from different walks of life depending on the culture they're in. I'll highlight the more important reference as needed and leave the rest to be guessed just for fun. Returning Heir Creature - Elf Soldier Nobility (Whenever this creature is targeted by a spell or ability, you may put a princess counter on it if it has less than three princess counters on it. Otherwise, draw a card.)Whenever you put a counter on ~, it gets +1/+1 until end of turn. 1/1 "If not by birthright, the Ein household is mine by my feats."Here's the first demonstration of how Nobility can be a non parasitic mechanic. Prowess 1-drops have always had Red in the mana cost ( Monastery Swiftspear, Blistercoil Weird, Soul-Scar Mage) until Clever Lumimancer, and even then, Red is the only color that gets access to these kinds of effects at common. While Returning Heir doesn't have haste, it does offer the Red player the ability to not run out of gas if it can be kept alive for a few turns to accumulate three princess counters. Crowning Parade Enchantment - Aura Flash Enchant creature If enchanted creature doesn't have nobility, it gains nobility. (Whenever this creature is targeted by a spell or ability, you may put a princess counter on it if it has less than three princess counters on it. Otherwise, draw a card.)Enchanted creature has flying. "The gates have opened! Let us celebrate the Princess of the Grain Kingdom's glorious rise with a sky-carriage tour."Enchantment that's meant to help more easily enable nobility. You can use it to cantrip in response to an opponent trying to target your stuff or just get an extra counter placed on a princess. The three noncreature commons here showcase how to design small beneficial nobility effects and nobility-relevant removal while referencing the general history of Marie Antoinette. Public's Judgement Enchantment - Aura Enchant creature When ~ enters the battlefield, remove all counters from enchanted creature. Enchanted creature loses all abilities and can't have counters placed on it. Example removal that is more relevant in a format with nobility without being completely useless in another format. Based on the fact Solemnity is allowed in White. Heartless Act Instant Choose one — • Destroy target creature with no counters on it. • Remove up to three counters from target creature. "In the end, she was too young to be responsible for bread or cake." - Executioner's obituaryYes, this is indeed a reprint! It turns out the effects line up perfectly with Nobility's design and the flavor works fairly well with the historical context it references. Gluttonous Ascendant Creature - Ooze Wizard Flash Nobility (Whenever this creature is targeted by a spell or ability, you may put a princess counter on it if it has less than three princess counters on it. Otherwise, draw a card.)When Gluttunous Ascendant enters the battlefield, you may change a target of target spell to Gluttunous Ascendant. 0/3 The citizens of Namalis struggle to maintain their economic wellbeing due to distance and poor trade routes. A rotund figure often marks a noble that no longer has to scavenge for risky spellscraps.Watered down Mizzium Meddler with Goblin Flectomancer as additional reference for balance and rarity placement. Meant to help deal with Shocks and other small removal effects or combat tricks, or just act as a counter to killspells or more recent Lightning Bolt variants like Frostbite. As the flavor text implies, you either get starved out from eating bad stuff or survive long enough to become royalty. Vizier of the Pit Creature - Snake Noble Nobility (Whenever this creature is targeted by a spell or ability, you may put a princess counter on it if it has less than three princess counters on it. Otherwise, draw a card.) Add . If ~ is a princess, add . 0/1 "A dashing smile and a little support to the right disgrunted warlord, and the Era of the Snake shall be ushered in by my hand."Green Elfhame Druid type design card that plays with the idea that becoming a princess can grant you additional rights/powers/what have you. In this case Vizier becomes a better and more sinister mana ramper as she takes over the kingdom's economics. Kashmi, Dashing Revolutionary Creature - Viashino Knight Nobility (Whenever this creature is targeted by a spell or ability, you may put a princess counter on it if it has less than three princess counters on it. Otherwise, draw a card.)Whenever a creature you control attacks, you may untap target tapped creature you control. If you do, draw a card. Whenever you draw a card, you lose 1 life. 2/2 "Will you be my shining partner for the day?"I figured it'd be kind of interesting to be a bit cheeky about the implications of Princess tribal. This design actually draws traits from both the heroic and villainous characters of Revolutionary Girl Utena - the 'princess' is fairly confident in their identity like Utena and relatively protective by letting attackers double as blockers, but they're also a selfish short-sighted person like the villain(s) of the cast that have you gain lots and lots of cards from constant manipulative interactions that'll inevitably implode on them in the long run. Archetype-wise Kashmi can be run with cards like Returning Heir to activate their Princess status much faster than intended and draw lots of cards, at the risk of a backfire where you can't interact with Princesses at all unless you want to risk losing too much life. Tian, the Rising Consort Creature - Spider Noble Advisor Nobility (Whenever this creature is targeted by a spell or ability, you may put a princess counter on it if it has less than three princess counters on it. Otherwise, draw a card.)When ~ enters the battlefield, you may tap any number of target creatures. Creatures don’t untap during their controllers’ untap steps. At the beginning of each player’s upkeep, that player may untap target tapped creature. 2/2 "I have only one dream - to see the world move in order through my regnant claws."A powerful hybrid Sleep/boardwipe prison card that can immediately jam up the field unlike cards like Stoic Angel that have to wait a turn or leave a bigger window to be played around. Most cards like these don't target (even ones that you think might like Magnetic Mountain), but Tian is specifically worded to target in order to enable Princess tribal (or just herself) into a card-drawing engine - plus, this actually gives you a reason to use Shroud-granting cards over Hexproof to lock the opponent out of using a creature at all.

OK, I don't know if this counts as ending the the challenge early, but it's gone on for over two weeks now. ZephyrPhantom | Nobility | Whenever is creature is targeted for a spell or ability, you may put a princess counter on it if it has three or less. Otherwise, draw a card. | {Judgement}Yeah, this one was destined to win right from the start. The insane amount of work you put into it, and describing your thought process behind every decision and how it would affect the meta is absolutely mind-blowing.
| ameu
| Hierarchy | Whenever you become the monarch, put a princess counter on target creature you control. If a creature you control with a princess counter dies, you become the monarch. | {Judgement}Honestly, this one feels a little too close to Athreos just with a Monarch skin stapled onto it. I feel the only deck that would see much use out of that are black-red sacrifice decks.
| vriss | Precious X | This creature enters the battlefield with X princess counters on it. At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a princess counter from it. It can't attack as long as it has princess counters on it. | {Judgement}This one I just don't get. It feels more like a detriment with triggered abilities stapled on to justify it. Plus, the flavor is just confusing. What about a princess equals "can't attack"?
Additional note: Esdrell is the perfect image of what very common trend in high-power cards: Pointlessly undercosted creatures. Why put severe downsides on a creature to balance out its power when you could have just raised the mana cost? Sure it costs less, but why would you want to be put at a detriment by your own creatures?
|
To the surprise of absolutely nobody, ZephyrPhantom takes the win.

Thanks! It was a keywords I really enjoyed making.
Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty is clearly going to have cyberpunk vibes, which has also recently brought up the point that cyberpunk is defined as much by (if not more so) its mentalities as it is by the tech. Inspired by that, your next keyword is Corporate/Corporation/any variants thereof.
Good luck!

At first I wanted to do something like watermark radiance. Then I stumbled upon "watermarkcraft" which is a way better fit to what I had in mind. Accelerated Evolution Instant Corporate identity — Target creature gets +3/+3 until end of turn. If you control three or more spells and/or permanents with a Crossbreed Labs watermark, put three +1/+1 counters on it instead. [Crossbreed Labs watermark]Unstopable Resolve Instant Corporate identity — If you control three or more permanents and/or spells with an Agents of S.N.E.A.K. watermark, this spell can’t be countered, exiled or targeted while it is on the stack. Target spell can’t be countered, exiled or targeted while it is on the stack and gains “As this spell resolves, draw a card.” [Agents of S.N.E.A.K. watermark]I really considered just wording it "can't leave the stack unless it resolves", but I thought the direct listing of everything that can happen to it was more funny. Also this way you can't cast Transcantation on it. {how to hack this}Reverse Cast Instant Put Reverse Cast and all other spells on the bottom of their owners’ libraries in a random order. Calcutron’s Right Klick Artifact Creature - Cyborg Knight Flash Corporate identity — When Calcutron’s Right Klick enters the battlefield, exile target attacking creature until Calcutron’s Right Klick leaves the battlefield. If you control three or more permanents and/or spells with an Order of the Widget watermark, exile that creature instead. [Order of the Widget watermark]3/3 The name is supposed to be a pun. I'm not sure if this is obvious enough. Explosive Spellbomb Artifact , Sacrifice Explosive Spellbomb, discard your hand: Draw two cards. Corporate identity — , Sacriifce Explosive Spellbomb: Reorder the stack as you choose. You may choose new targets for each spell and ability you control. Activate only if you control three or more permanents and/or spells with a Goblin Explosioneers watermark. [Goblin Explosioneers watermark]I tried really hard to give this one a name that makes at least a little bit sense but has no chance of ever being printed in a black-border set. Doomstare Sorcery Corporate identity — If you control three or more permanents and/or spells with a League of Dastardly Doom watermark (including this one), you may cast this spell as though it had flash. Target player discards a card. [League of Dastardly Doom watermark]Even though it sounds really silver-border, the "including this one" part is actually a real rules thing. If you check out the rules for casting a spell, the first thing you do when casting a spell is (obviously) to put it on the stack (rule 601.2a). The check if the spell can be legally cast comes at a later point (601.2e), so the check includes Doomstare's own watermark. Of course only an un-set would/could/should reference a rules oddity like this that directly.
