Hey Magical Friends! :-)
I am Bagz/John, long time lurker, first time posting!
Before I get to the point I just wanted to take a minute to say how much I appreciate you guys and this small but dedicated community of creatives you have built and maintained over the years! Been into games and gaming since I was a kid and it is awesome to find a place to collectively work on my hobby!
The driving motivation I Had for registering and posting is this:
I am slowly working on a rather large project involving the creation of enough sets to form a standard and then a commander set that pulls from and builds on that. In the end it should support multiple draft configurations, standard, edh etc and I intend to build a cube as the last task after play-testing etc.
To help me with the logistics of set design I've been studying everything I can find from wizards blogs, podcasts etc as well as combing through the work shared here. As a result I've ended up using MSE, along w a couple resources, to create set templates of the current standard for using as an outline/placeholder while I start integrating ideas into a comprehensive set.
I have based the templates off of the latest sets and am moving backwards to the oldest sets still in rotation.
As of this afternoon I have completed the templates for:
Core Set 2019 (new standard rotation core set)
Dominaria (new standard rotation format expansion)
Rivals of Ixalan (old block rotation small set)
Ixalan (old block rotation large set)
Each template contains a complete list of all the card types, colors, and rarity. Game text, flavor, P/T, CMC and card names are all blank.
This is a good way to see how each set distributes types and rarity and serves as an excellent example of how the colors contrast while maintaining general balance.
Thanks for stopping by, hope to hear from you all eventually and sorry if I posted this in the wrong sub.
EOT,
Bagz
