A) Transformation is explicitly different from any of those four statuses and non-transforming cards (including modal cards) do not transform, to my understanding. Correct, they don't (that's part of Comp. Rule 712) B) While there isn't transforming caring in cards, there is a state of "transformed" mentioned in cards, specifically in cards that "come into the battlefield transformed", like the Neon Dynasty Sagas and sparkers (I think that's the term for those creatures that turn into planeswalkers). I know which cards you mean ( Disturb also is an example), and I did mention them above. In that case, "transformed" doesn't refer to a state but rather to the action of transforming them just like with Moonmist - except the transforming is done before they enter the new zone. It's like "ETB with a +1/+1 counter" rather than "ETB, then put a +1/+1 counter." But yeah, this is a bit weird. Guess they couldn't turn it into a proper state because of what you mentioned in (A)?
So, for the next challenge, how about this: Design inspired by the Dethrone mechanic, obviously

And it's judging time! pernicious Solid card. The wording would be „CARDNAME's power is equal to …“ but no matter. This would likely make for some fun moments in multiplayer games. Also like the flavor and artwork of a cogwork creature. vizionarius Well, I'm actually not sure whether the activation cost is a sentence on its own but I won't be too picky here. The card a a nice draft-matters theme going on that fits the world of Fiora well. The only issue I have is that having the option of dealing 3 damage to an attacking creature might lead to people being too afraid to attack and thereby dragging the game. But goad cards could help. Idea Powerful effect that will turn a lot of heads. Unfortunately, those heads will also turn unanimously against you because nobody would want this effect used on them. I'm not sure whether adding counters to a card outside the battlefield works within the rules but seeing that Lightning Storm exists, it's probably possible. Daij_Djan Elegant card. Just as with the design of vizionarius, I'm not sure whether the activation cost of the second activated ability is a sentence on its own. Anyways, the flavor is cool and it incentivises attacking, which is always a big plus for multiplayer games. {And the winner is...} Daij_Djan! With pernicious coming in at a very close second place. Thanks everyone for participating!

Big thanks for the reminder!
Since I can't really think of something new right now - and to not stall this any further, I'll just roll us three old limits instead :)And your new limits are..
LIMIT #8: Did you ken? Your card makes or cares about tokens. LIMIT #60: HULK SMASH! Your card has a power of five or greater! (Thanks, Nighthawk!)
LIMIT #98: I wonder which one is the main character? Your card is a Planeswalker or interacts with them. (Thanks, Jartis!)

Jincet, God of Travellers two generic, A white, a blue, a green, and a red
Legendary Enchantment Creature - God
Indestructible
As long as you control four or fewer planeswalkers, Jincet is not a creature.
Whenever a nontoken planeswalker enters the battlefield, if you control it, create a nonlegendary token copy of it. Otherwise you may pay 2 generic to create a nonlegendary token copy of it. The token enters with two fewer loyalty counters.
5/5 |
Theros is well-established as a color pairs plane, but what if there were some real fringe 'minor gods' in the three and four color range. This would probably make for a pretty straight forward superfriends commander.

Yeah, sorry for the delay. As mentioned elsewhere, I've been a bit sick last week (and today is CotW stuff), but I should be able to finally take care of this starting tomorrow
And here we go: { Flo00}OK, this is a tricky one to evaluate. That first ability is definitely clever – but it's the second one I have a tough time to wrap my head around. Your opponent might want to activate if if they're not blocking it, just to lower the damage – and you might to the same sometimes to not completely kill a planeswalker when you know you'll get a free swing next turn as well. But would anyone want to activate it, when Eariul gets blocked? Deathtouch on a five-power creature isn't that useful in most cases, when combined with a double block it might be even more likely for an opponent to use it in general.. I think, this card might just not be for me. The first ability is cool, and the second definitely has a lot of depth – but somehow it just doesn't click with me, really.. Sorry, I'm really not sure how to express my thought very well on this one { melono}Very, very clever downside to fulfill Limit #98, seriously. My only nitpick is how the Channel abilty is kind of a strictly better Raise the Alarm, which is by itself kind of the best choice to get two 1/1's – but that's really a minor nitpick. { Idea} Absorb 2, nice This sure is a strong one – I think? Having Absorb 2 really makes it tough to deal with, even if you can only increase its loyalty by giving your opoponent some creatures. Attacking Aún wouldn't do much (unless your opponent can buff them somehow), so instead let's say the tokens swing at you each time. You need three activations to turn him into a beater (and pretty much win the game unless the opponent had some non-planeswalker creature removal ready ), so the opponent will be able to swing at you for 10 in the meantime.. I might really be overestimating Aúm, but I think unless you're playing against a really agressive deck, this is quite the bomb at five mana.. { gluestick248}Clever mechanic, like that idea. You're missing the rarity, but I'd assume an uncommon maybe? Two questions: What if you already attack a planeswalker – do you get an additional copy attacking it as well? Because you are missing the exclusion clause from the original mechanic. Or maybe it should trigger only if the original attacks a player? Though at that point, maybe limit the tokens to planeswalkers that player controls – simply for (imho) flavor reasons? { hydraheadhunter}Interesting concept, but I have two issues. First of all, this might be me but I don't really see this as being fourcolored nonblack. Fourcolored cards are always tricky to justify in general, obviously – and purely mechanically speaking this could pretty much be monoblue. Don't get me wrong, don't think the card should be monoblue – but with the mechanic working in a single color, I don't really see „missing black“ as really fitting. Why not all five colors? Why not in Bant-colors (which I'd say matches the flavor best – I see red in the flavor just as much or little as black)? But again, all of this might be me and fourcolored cards being rather special.. What's more important is something else: The triggered ability triggers itself with the created copies – is this intentional? Sure, it's not an infinite amount due to the loyalty counter reduction every time, but a single Ugin, the Spirit Dragon would give you three copies (and only the first one would cost you even if the original wasn't yours to begin with).. I'd definitely suggest adding a nontoken clause. { vizionarius}Big, beefy and flashy for sure. It definitely looks cool, even though in reality it probably doesn't really play as well as it looks? Not only do you need to pay twice to get your first cool token, you also might want to create that token not during your turn (since then you cannot use your Guardian for blocking that round) which means you won't get your first planeswalker ability activation till the turn after than.. { ameisenmeister}Simple and clean concept, reminding me of Garruk's Uprising (in a good way). Not sure how well Nissa-tribal really works – but I like it nethertheless! {And the winner is..} melono! The way you fulfilled that final limit was just way too clever to not bring you the win. Runner-up goes to ameisenmeister.

Colorwise, my thought was this would be a god bridging the domains between Klothys and Ephara, but that's probably really opaque logic from outside my head. I also get the whole four color is special mindset (Although, I don't subscribe to it).
Mechanicswise, yes it shoulda said nontoken; omitting that was a classic hydraheadhunter whoopsie doodle.

Daij_DjanThanks for the win! Yeah, the channel... I actually based it off of Raise the Alarm, but I thought, raise the alarm doesn't get used much right?, so making it stronger and rare wouldn't be bad, right? But, well, it probably was a bit pushed, cuz I couldn’t find anything much better than it just now... Also, for the attack ability, I got inspired by a game I'm making myself, where one can attack either players or creatures by choice. Just reused the same limit I had on a card there where a creature could only attack creatures to this card (but then planeswalkers of course). Anyhoo, three new rules!: LIMIT #62: We've all seen it coming: Your card uses or cares about a futureshifted mechanic! (Like Delve, Aura swap, Fortify..) (Thanks, Daij_Djan!) LIMIT #116: Pull the trigger. Your card has a triggered ability (Thanks, Boogymanjunior!) And the new addition. Or rather, multiplication. LIMIT #182: Triple the threat, double the fun, but only half the story! Your card causes or cares about multiplication or division! (Thanks, melono!) Have fun y’all!

When you do, it deals damage equal to its power times its toughness to target creature or planeswalker. Gravestorm (When you play this spell, copy it for each permanent put into a graveyard from play this turn. You may choose new targets for the copies.)

Got access to DALL-E! Will likely have these AI-Generated images for some time as I have fun with it. Caption used to generate this image: "warrior protected from a magic projectile by a glowing energy shield, light colors fantasy art epic" (image came out as a circle, so changed name from Absorption Shield) Circle of Absorption Enchantment - Aura Enchant creature Enchanted creature has absorb X, where X is half enchanted creature's toughness, rounded up. (If a source would deal damage to this creature, prevent X of that damage.)Whenever enchanted creature would die, sacrifice ~ instead.

Lessgo, what do we got?? Judgement: Flo00 {Spoiler} Flo00 - Vengeance of the Dead: A possible one-sided boardwipe, as long as you have enough creatures in your grave and there have been enough deaths already, which is strong, but requires so much setup it’d be rare. As a smaller hit to two or three creatures/planeswalkers is also good enough. It requires quite strong creatures in your graveyard for certain death as well, so that’s another requirement. Also, the way it is worded, the creature (card) is dealing the damage, that allows for some nice shenanigans with damage triggers: think deathtouch, lifelink, or other triggers like Pit Spawn. I’d put it at rare btw. Idea - Corruption Eater: A 4/3 trampler for 4 is a reasonably good rate, but it also gets either 2 +1/+1 counters on player hit, or gives 2 poison counters. The poison counters might matter in the case of something like a draft environment, where your strategies aren’t as set in stone, but if you want to play this optimally, you should always go for the +1/+1 counters I’d say. Either 4 damage or 2 poison, which is both 1/5th of total life. But the 4 damage can increase, the 2 poison cannot. Still, interesting design space, such counter conversions. vizionarius - Circle of Absorption: I kinda see this as an alternate, less powerful Indestructibility. But also not actually. It’s really only meant for big booty creatures, and has totem armor if damage or destruction does come through the absorb. We should see more absorbs like this. Cost might actually be a bit more aggressive ( ?), as the card needs booty setup, and still isn’t the strongest then. Do like it. Very white. ameisenmeister - Sprawling Apetite: Simple, yet strong. Not overpowered strong I think, as you still need enough destruction for the gravestorm, and at least one creature with +1/+1 counters on it, but it can already get a bit out of hand with a stormcount of 3 on a creature with 1 counter: 1+1+2+4=8 +1/+1 counters in total on it. With modulars and eggs, that can be hella killer. Would like to see it playtested, but I don’t want to see it go into circulation just yet. {Spoiler} So, winner is: Flo00 with Vengeance of the Dead. The possible shenanigans with damage triggers is something I just can’t not choose. Though I do have to say, all entries were pretty dang good. Thanks for playing!

Thanks for thewin melono. I didn't even think of lifelink and deathtouch. Just felt natural to let the creature deal the damage, since it's the one that wants vengeance.
LIMIT #109: East is east is east. Your card has flavor derived from real world's Asia. (Thanks, ameisenmeister!) LIMIT #83: Conjunction, junction, that's my function! You must use a keyword in conjunction with a non-numerical, non-mana cost modifier! (Reminder text doesn't count. For example, Equip legendary creature or Splice onto instant.) Be creative! (Thanks, Yoshi!) LIMIT #183: I do not like to repeat myself! Your card can't use the same word twice. (That includes name, type line and text box (except reminder) as well as articles like a, an and the.) (Thanks Flo00!)
Looks like a crazy set of restrictions. I allways feel a little sarcastic when I put Thanks Flo00! behind those limits.

I don't understand that second restriction. Also, regarding the third restriction, does reminder text count for the repetition? Hope these examples will help: Banding -> Bands with other Legends Haxproof -> Hexproof from black Equip -> Equip legendary creature It can also be something that needs a reference point like Protection from red Splice onto Arcane Basically a keyword that uses some qualilty it refers to. Hope that makes it clear(er). Reminder doesn't count, a.k.a. I'll ignore it when checking for repetitions.
