Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of each week, a winner will be determined by forum poll. The winner's card will be rendered and featured on the Welcome page, and the winner decides the challenge for the next week's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our two-hundred and twenty-third challenge! The winner of the "Chaos Confetti" poll was viriss with...And the challenge issued by our winner was... Choose a Ravinca guild and make two new " Partner with" creature cards in those colors to fight against (or with) Bolas. Note: As this challenge has some minor overlap with the recent CotW #218, please don't reuse your entry from it (given you created a card featuring the requested mechanic). Obviously both of your designed cards for this week's challenge will be included in the poll. ~Daij_Djan To increase your chances of winning and to also make creating the poll easier on whomever is doing so, please try to use a render. Additionally, please try to keep your entry edits all in one post - if you need to change it you can put your old entry in a spoiler marked "Old entry" and leave the newest rendition to be seen. Just use the edit button in the top/right of your original post. And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

viriss: Do they both have to be in the same colors, or can we choose a different guild for each card?

They should be a color, or at least have a color identity, of the guild you choose. They don't have to be enemy colors like the other partners with cards.

viriss: What I meant was, can one card be of one guild, and the other card be of a different guild? For example, card a is Simic and card b is Gruul.

Dangit. I had a Simic/Gruul combo all ready to go, but had to scrap it due to the clarification on the rules restriction. So here's something I just threw together at the last moment:
Ghortal, the Eternal Rage Legendary Creature--Orc Warrior Berserker Partner with Payne, Insubordination Incarnate (When this creature enters the battlefield, target player may put Payne into their hand from their library, then shuffle.) Whenever a creature you or a teammate controls attacks, that creature’s controller may have it deal damage equal to its power to target creature or planeswalker defending player controls. 3/4
Payne, Insubordination Incarnate Legendary Creature--Avatar Incarnation Partner with Ghortal, the Eternal Rage (When this creature enters the battlefield, target player may put Ghortal into their hand from their library, then shuffle.) Haste Whenever a creature or planeswalker controlled by an opponent is dealt noncombat damage, it deals that much damage to its controller. 5/5

Do they both have to be on the same side of the conflict? Or, could one work with Bolas and the other against Bolas.

Do they both have to be on the same side of the conflict? Or, could one work with Bolas and the other against Bolas. From a flavor perspective it wouldn't make much sense for the two to be partners if they're enemies.

From a rules/guidelines, yes they can be conflicted. Bolas is great at mind control.

While I still need a fitting partner, I just have to call dibs on Massacre Girl

@daij_Djan, I might be doing something slightly inspired by Massacre Girl, but it'll be a different character, so no worries!

The story here is that Lyndra unleashed a pit dragon on the city, just for the hell of it. The dragon, Gortar, wreaked havoc and munched on the innocents. Lyndra saw a great opportunity in this. She would feed the voracious beast with ressurected ghouls, and the beast would in turn remove any enemies of hers from existence. Gortar agreed to this delicious deal, and since then a beatiful friendship has flowered between the two.
Changelog: Lyndra, the Claw now costs 2B instead of 1B. Power is now 2 instead of 1. Triggered ability now allows you target another player to return a creature card from their graveyard to their hand, where before only you could return a card from your graveyard to your hand.

This might be a tad indulgent, but my pair are a duo of from Kylem that somehow got to Ravnica.
Niven, Aven Statistician Legendary Creature-Bird Partner with Mizz, Goblin Cheerleader Whenever you draw a card, you may pay . If you do, Niven, Aven Statistician deals 1 damage to any target. Klem or Ravnica, Niven was always a fan of wizards. 1/1

gateways7 : Zegana's art is from Sigil Tracer, which was illustrated by Dan Scott.
digiman619: I just read the flavor text of Extinction in trump's voice, and now I've got a bad case of the willies. Thanks a lot!

viriss: Crose enough!
Zuty : Oakenheart Druid would work better if the trigger happened at the beginning of each end step. If you want to keep it at the beginning of each upkeep, I'd suggest you change it to look at the previous turn, a la the Werewolf mechanic.

sdfkjgh Yeah, but that's hardly my fault. I love the card because it was my first boardwipe and everyone played tribal back in the day, even if it wasn't supported, so it holds a special place in my heart.

For my Ravnica guild, I choose Boros.
Razia, Battlefront Defender
|
| Legendary Creature — Angel
|
| Flying, first strike, haste Radiance — Whenever Razia attacks, untap her and each other creature that shares a color with her. Prevent the next 3 damage that would be dealt to each of them.
Partner with Aurelia, Boros Warleader
|
| "Blinded by my radiant light... | 6/3 |
|
Aurelia, Boros Warleader
|
| Legendary Creature — Angel
|
| Flying, vigilance, haste Battalion — Whenever Aurelia and at least two other creatures attacks for the first time this turn, you get an additional combat phase after this one.
Partner with Razia, Battlefront Defender
|
| ...they won’t even see what hit 'em!"
| 4/4 |
|
{Card Renders} This makes a slightly weaker Aurelia, but a slightly stronger combo. Also the cost of both creatures are reduced by one and their rarities are switched around from their earlier appearance in Magic. I'm not compleatly satisfied with the names (the follow up names after Aurelia and Razia), so if you have suggestions for better naming, please let me know. Renders will come later.

Something something Golgari. Cultivar Danu - Legendary Creature - Elf Shaman Partner with Cultivar Nix Whenever a creature card is exiled from a graveyard, Support 2. 2/2 Cultivar Nix - Legendary Creature- Zombie Shaman Partner with Cultivar Danu Whenever a creature card is put into a graveyard from anywhere, exile it. If you do, create a 2/2 black Zombie creature token. 2/2

Milking this concept as much as possible Rakdos Thespians Creature — Human Partner with Rakdos Ringleaders (When this creature enters the battlefield, target player may put Rakdos Ringleaders into their hand from their library, then shuffle.)Haste Creatures your team controls with menace have haste. The party doesn't start until their arrival.2/2 Rakdos Ringleaders Creature — Human Partner with Rakdos Thespians (When this creature enters the battlefield, target player may put Rakdos Thespians into their hand from their library, then shuffle.)Menace Creatures your team controls with haste have menace. The party isn’t over until they say so.3/3
Looking at some of the other entries it seems like a lot of people didn't account for the inherent card advantage that Partner with gives you. Take a look at the existing Partner with cards - they have REALLY weak bodies to compensate

Hold it right there! For a moment, I assumed that "Partner with <name>" was the same ability as "Partner", only that it specificly requires the other commander to be the named creature in order for the partner ability to be valid. Yes... I haven't had a look at Battlebond yet, that's obvious by now, but isn't it a bit confusing when presented this way?
Well that just makes me wonder: Does "Partner with" on legendary creatures work as a Partner ability in commander? It really should, imho!

@ Mahx Michael: Yes, "Partner with" works just as you expected in Commander even though that's not included in the reminder text. It's really annoying and confusing imho..

Archangel Thyir Legendary Creature - Angel Partner with Vlex, Empowering Licid Flying, vigilance As long as Archangel Thyir is enchanted, it has double strike. Vlex, Empowering Licid 2 Legendary Creature - Vampire Licid Partner with Archangel Thyir : Vlex, Empowering Licid loses this ability and becomes an Aura enchantment with enchant creature. Attach it to target creature. You may pay to end this effect. Whenever enchanted creature deals damage, you gain that much life.
