Welcome to the Deckbuilders' Challenge originally created by sdfkjgh! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a deck along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of every two weeks, a winner will be determined by forum poll, and the winner decides the challenge for the next fortnight's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our seventieth challenge! The winner of the “Uniconic, Uncharacteristic Colors“ poll was vizionarius with... |
(Modern)
|
And the challenge issued by our winner was... Take the winning card from any of the CotW polls with winners declared in 2022 and build a deck that features it in a major way. Any other cards you use should be existing MTG cards legal in the format you choose for your deck. Since online tools won't have this card, please use a clearly labeled substitute. (And make sure to credit the CotW winner in your submission.) Please provide a decklist using deckstats, tappedout or similar. Feel free to add some comments as they will be included in the final poll. Please provide a deck name as well as choose a card to represent your deck in the poll. And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

Is there like an easy way to view all those winning cards? I'm really not feeling running through a bunch of threads checking the winners.

Here are all the winners in 2022; I didn't want to spam-tag everyone, so go to the respective poll to see the winner's name. I added the contest numbers. (Note: Below are a lot of images.)

A white pauper commander deck built around this card made by Idea as its commander. Whether you allow a sideboard with commander or not, this deck would function. It would just have just that bit more edge if the Lesson-board was allowed. The deck's strategy is to keep getting weenies out, but also drawing with learn into new cards. The discard for the learn is circumnavigated by using cards that can be played from the grave. PS: The learn trigger can be stacked after the weeny's etb effect, allowing more card selection often.

"Every king started as a man wanting to rule." The Cursed Gifts of the Lake Decklist (Modern + Custom)
4 Ability Punchcard = Caster Greed A midrange/combo hybrid deck that tries to resolve a Caster Greed early to exile and play as many 0-mana artifacts and cheap artifact payoffs as possible like Emry, Lurker of the Loch nad Thought Monitor. The deck contains a variety of ways to win but the "epic" way to do so is to use Birgi, God of Storytelling to resolve a giant Chimeric Mass or Walking Ballista and go to town on your opponent, or play a Thassa's Oracle combined with clever Harnfel, Horn of Bounty usage to win the game out of nowhere. We ideally want to start with Caster Greed as soon as possible so in addition to draw spells so we run 4x Serum Powder in this particular build to try and get the right hands we need. We sideboard Engineered Explosives for handling tokens, aggro decks, and other problematic permanents, Tormod's Crypt to hate on graveyard decks, Chalice to any deck that is heavily reliant on a turn 1 play (combo decks, tron, vial, etc...), and Ravager to try and transform the deck into artifact stompy if our original plan proves too be too risky.
