Welcome to the Deckbuilders' Challenge originally created by sdfkjgh! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a deck along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of every two weeks, a winner will be determined by forum poll, and the winner decides the challenge for the next fortnight's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our sixty-first challenge! The winner of the “Shy, sly, & a bit evil poll“ was melono with... |
(Pauper Commander)
{Comments}Imma just stick the traits here for now:
dependable, unkind and spontaneous.
Going with spontaneous: with this Pauper Commander deck you are supposed to dump your cheap or madness-filled hand constantly and then replenish it with hopefully 3 new cards using Amber's attack trigger. The background is to help Amber survive her attacks and make her hit even harder. |
And the challenge issued by our winner was... Make a tribal deck, that is not about Goblins, Elves, Merfolk, Humans, Elementals, Zombies, or Faeries. The deck may contain these, but they shouldn't have synergies pertaining to the type. Please provide a decklist using deckstats, tappedout or similar. Feel free to add some comments as they will be included in the final poll. Please provide a deck name as well as choose a card to represent your deck in the poll. And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

Daij_Djan , if you need me to write out here the most up-to-date list, let me know. Considering the number of changes over time, that would be the best, to be honest. Also using one of the typical decklist sites so that I have something to link to for the poll would be really useful
Since I had no initial idea about what to do, I decided to roll the ScryFall random button - and after five noncreature cards it finally landed on Bulette, so Beasts it is!

(Please use Brighthearth Banneret as the face card if one must be picked.) Under Astarte's Banner, We March! (Warrior Tribal)So while I'm not the most familiar with Warhammer 40k lore, I really liked the aesthetic of the Space Marines and wanted to try building a deck around them. Unfortunately, most of them cost 4 or more mana, and on top of that many Astartes are fairly pricey and color intensive for what they do, which rules out the traditional solutions of just playing Green or Tron to remedy their overcosted nature. However, a lot of Astartes are Warriors and have at least one generic mana in their cost, which makes them perfect for use with Brighthearth Banneret. In addition to being a mass cost reducer, we can use its Reinforce ability (if we have a City of Brass out) to buff up our creatures so that Chaos Terminator Lord is more effective. We also run Radha, Heir to Keld and Gemstone Caverns to further ease the burden on having to ramp up into mana-hungry creatures and use cards like Cavern of Souls and Secluded Courtyard to both cover our Warrior's many colored mana costs and run Spatial Contortion and Warping Wail - both cards act as removal, but Warping Wail also doubles as another form of ramp in the event we need more mana to play more space marines. Ideally, we want to to swarm the field with Assault Intercessors, Chaos Terminator Lords, and Vanguard Suppressors with the help of cards like Realmwalker, with Primaris Eliminator coming in to keep opposing tall/wide strats under control and Unsettled Mariner to help us better hedge against enemy removal.
