Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of each week, a winner will be determined by forum poll. The winner's card will be rendered and featured on the Welcome page, and the winner decides the challenge for the next week's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our four-hundred and eighth challenge! The winner of the "A New Twist" poll was inverness with...And the challenge issued by our winner was... Design an instant or sorcery card with exactly four colored mana symbols in its mana cost.Unlike the Invocation cycle that inspired this challenge, your cards don't have to be monocolored, nor do they have to have mana value 5! You can also include other mechanics related to casting spells, such as alternate costs or additional costs, as long as the actual mana cost still includes four colored mana symbols. To increase your chances of winning and to also make creating the poll easier on whomever is doing so, please try to use a render. Additionally, please try to keep your entry edits all in one post - if you need to change it you can put your old entry in a spoiler marked "Old entry" and leave the newest rendition to be seen. Just use the edit button in the top/right of your original post. And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

When I read the challenge, I instantly knew I wanted to do a fourcolored spell (especially since so far there are none) - even if fourcolored stuff is indeed always a bit tricky. Still, I like the end result:
Might come back later for balancing, though. Four mana seems dangerously cheap for such an effect, even if the color requirements balance out a lot. For now, I decided to add the legendary requirement as well, but I might remove that one and add some generic cost instead at some point

Today on "Music Nerd Creates a Music Mechanic":
Instant Destroy target permanent. You gain life equal to its mana value. If this was a finale, target player loses that much life.

| Invoke Madness A generic, two black, and two red
Sorcery
As you discard nonland cards this turn, they gain madness. The madness cost is equal to their mana cost minus two generic.
Each player discards their hand, loses life equal to the number of cards they discarded this way, then draws seven cards.

Figured I might as well expand the cycle. Open for negociating the wording of the first clause.

"Each nonland card in your hand gains madness until end of turn. The madness cost is equal to its mana cost reduced by ."
(It's "gains" rather than "has" since it's only for a turn. Also lands cannot be cast so they need to be excluded.)

The problem with that wording is, as I interpret it, it only gives madness to the cards currently in your hand at time of casting resolution, so cards put in your hand later don't see the benefit which is the effect I want, yeah? maybe the best way to go about it is to split the effect into two clauses with the second being a delayed trigger, Nonland cards in your hand gain a madness cost equal to their mana cost minus 2 until end of turn. Until end of turn whenever one or more nonland cards are put into your hand, they gain a madness cost equal to their mana cost minus 2. |
nah that's terrible, and nonsensical to boot.Maybe just psudo madness instead Until end of turn, whenever you discard a nonland card, exile it. When you do, you may cast it for it's mana cost minus 2 or put it in your graveyard.

It doesn't give madness, but since the card is called invoke madness maybe that's fine.

It doesn't give madness, but since the card is called invoke madness maybe that's fine. Since your original text adds an ability, it only affects the cards that are currently in your hand. How about Cards you discard this turn have madness. The madness cost is ... Or maybe a more Yidris approach: As you discard cards from your hand this turn, they gain madness. The madness cost is ...

I don't like it -- Mainly because I don't like the number FOUR. Therefore I cheese this one by adding a simple calculation: 2 + 2 = FOUR

Thanks inverness! Turns out reading the challenge explains the challenge. Anyway, Vitalizing Boon Instant Distribute four +1/+1 counters among any number of target creatures. Then, untap each creature you control with a +1/+1 counter on it. {Old entry}Bareth, Mantle of Heroes Legendary Artifact — Equipment Equipped creature gets +3/+3 and has vigilance. Whenever equipped creature attacks, create a 2/2 white Knight creature token with vigilance that’s attacking. Equip

(The card's name is not "Inferno Liege" unless the materialize cost has been paid.) (If the materialize cost isn't paid, the card resolves the effect in the first box and the creature's abilities are treated as if they do not exist.)
(Inferno Liege IS a creature in the graveyard, exile, library and hand. It is only a creature on the stack if the materialize cost has been paid.)

This is interesting, but a little too confusing. I suggest you use the Adventure template.

Cool card. Feels more than to me. Thanks! Originally the land search clause had a limitation on it, "If an opponent controls more lands than you, search..." which was supposed to represent the white flavor a bit more clearly. But the card felt too weak to me, plus it was an anti-synergy with the land destruction. Ultimately, I'll just say that the enemy graveyard shuffling can represent the white of the card.

Just in time I hope! Sorcery Target creature you control fights up to four target creatures you don't control. [Whenever a creature dealt damage this way dies this turn, draw a card.]
