Thanks for the detailed feedback! I took into consideration what you said and updated my card. It now uses Escalate for the modal choices, as I figured that would make for an interesting use of the mechanic. I also updated "Borrow" to be more reflective of the flavor. I don't know if you can "create a token" as a *cost.* Varchild's War-Riders has "Cumulative upkeep—Have an opponent create a 1/1 red Survivor creature token" so it's doable as a cost. I just wouldn't have it be the only cost for an activated ability but something where it can only be done a finite number of times in a turn cycle works.

Formatting just feels very weird. I would like to point out that there is absolutely no requirement to use any given keyword even if it's technically a fit for any particular card. You can have "choose one or more" with some condition without trying to cram the formatting into Escalate, for example. So inverness if you want to do "Choose one or more. For each you choose, create a Treasure token" that's perfectly legal and sensible wording.

Dammit, I just noticed the number of this Contest, and am surprised there weren't more "Contest Not Found" jokes.

Taking You Out Instant Choose target creature you control and another target creature. Choose one — • For Dinner — Put a +1/+1 counter on each creature chosen this way. • In Combat — The Chosen creatures fight each other.

Yes, and I was clarifying that, to the best of my knowledge at least, it is both legal Magic-ese wording and not explicitly outside of any general formatting guidelines (technically we haven't seen anything quite similar in terms of having stuff linked to a modal ability outside of the modes themselves, but unless I'm missing something about how modal effects work it should be fine.) As far as actual commentary on the card goes, I like the idea of having increasingly desperate means, but the delayed trigger on Borrow could cause memory issues and feels counterproductive on the "generating extra mana" front. I'd recommend something more like "Pawn - Sacrifice a nonland permanent." I'd also like the symmetry of Beg having a downside as well, which could be something like "Beg - Discard a card." With those two changes you could even drop the cost down to R, at which point you have a potentially *very strong* mana ritual type effect... at the cost of some *extreme* card disadvantage. Not quite Lion's Eye Diamond extreme in either regard, but it'd be an interesting way to go about things if you wanted to push it.
