vizionarius "~ base power and toughness becomes 1/4 until end of turn." still -- doesn't shorten the ability text at all and has the same result as -1/+2 ;-) the5lacker i really appriciate the thought -- but, well, there are thoughts of my own as well. Vigilance is a trade all guards or sentinels should inherently posses -- being able to akt when akting is needed -- which may be every time. First strike isn't realy a guard thing imo -- it was the remnance of another version in RW with another artwork that thematically represented another part of redwell. {Other Mouse} I might revisit this card tho -- depending on which one i like more ;-) The stat altering properties inherit the training -- raise your shield without ever the need of thinking about it if the fight demands it. Ya untap sugestion may be another version of vigilance without naming it vigilance -- i get it ;-) First strike may be consideres the training aspect. but the over all feeling i get from it is more like a battle guard that vanquishes foes rather than a house/honorguard that protect his lord -- no matter the danger.

the5lacker: I suppose I should make an exception for draw steps in there, I'll add that. Should I up the number of cards you can keep in hand to 4 or 5? What I'm looking to do is make playing out your hand first and saving card draw for last. If I have 2 cards in hand and one of them is Divination, I can draw 2 cards when I cast it. But if I have 3 cards in hand and one is Divination I'll only draw 1.

I still don't particularly care for the changing combat math with uneven stat changes, especially uncontrolled ones. Rather than dropping First Strike to keep the stat-changing, why not drop the Vigilance, keep the First Strike, and have something like "Whenever an opponent attacks you with a Cat, Weasel, etc., untap this."? Or you can have the text as a "becomes"... (becomes 1/4 until end of turn). The problem isn't doing the arithmetic, the problem is "My 3/1 trades with this. Oh, whoops, I forgot it was a Cat, no it won't, it's a free kill."

But if I have 3 cards in hand and one is Divination I'll only draw 1. Even with the draw step exception (which is *mandatory* for anything involving preventing draws to avoid locking people out of the game), this as an asymmetric effect makes it obnoxious. Control decks don't need yet another Narset, Parter of Veils, only with Flash so you can drop it in response to their card draw and make them cry. If you're married to this being a Spirit of the Labyrinth type effect, I'd say you really want this to be symmetrical, especially at such a low cost.

Since "Bobbulosh" and "this creature" is third person singular, it should be "die s". Also, dying effects usually use "When" and not "Whenever" (since usually that happens only once). See this for reference.

Therefore, for this week, design a 2-mana card that fits one or more of the following requirements:... I do have to make a restriction that your entries should be strictly 2 mana

Sorry for the misreading, I just forget the card must cost 2. So here is my corrected entry, in the same concept however: (The card has a lot of text) Also thank you for correcting my grammar, I'm best in french. (Hope this card don't has too much grammatical errors)

@ ganzzert : Sword of the Meek makes the beginning smoother: "Whenever a nontoken 2/2 creature enters the battlefield under your control, ..." The point is that it makes the entering creature's power and toughness become 2/2 instead.

Taking advantage of the new digital-only stuff: Sigardian Evangel already plays in this space but it's more aggressively statted (and has ETB upside) so the conjured card doesn't stick around. I think this design has its own niche.

ganzzert how about Whenever a nontoken creature enters the battlefield under your control, its base power and toughness becomes 2/2, ... You should also probably put a reminder counter on it so that people don#t forget that it is 2/2. kilenc That's an arbitrary ammount of 2/2s for 2 mana. And it isn't even limited to one turn. That's pretty busted. Maybe this should check if it started in you deck. Or if you want it to work multiple times, make it only work if you don't control other Viking Reserves or maybe limit the nummber of creatures you control to make it work. Even with those options, its easy fodder for free sacrifice abilities. bastardneko You know you can activate that ability multiple times in a turn? Yes, it deals 2 damage to you each time, but it has quite the strange effect of the original attacking alone and potentially an army of copies attacking your other opponents. Also continuous effects without any reminder of it usually cause memory problems. ("How much bushido does that thing have?") I know two different kind of counters on the same creature isn't that great either, but how about training counters?

Also continuous effects without any reminder of it usually cause memory problems. ("How much bushido does that thing have?") I know two different kind of counters on the same creature isn't that great either, but how about training counters? bastardneko Also, I don't believe that the copies would have bushido, since the printed card doesn't have it (see below). Not sure if the intent was that the copies would have it, but just wanted to point that out. A workaround for that, and the issue about remembering (pointed out by Flo00 ), could be something like this: "Other Burning-Hydra Ronins you control have bushido X, where X is half the number of +1/+1 counters on ~, rounded down." Or something similar, just giving an example. " 707.2. When copying an object, the copy acquires the copiable values of the original object’s characteristics and, for an object on the stack, choices made when casting or activating it (mode, targets, the value of X, whether it was kicked, how it will affect multiple targets, and so on). The copiable values are the values derived from the text printed on the object (that text being name, mana cost, color indicator, card type, subtype, supertype, rules text, power, toughness, and/or loyalty), as modified by other copy effects, by its face-down status, and by “as . . . enters the battlefield” and “as . . . is turned face up” abilities that set power and toughness (and may also set additional characteristics). Other effects (including type-changing and text-changing effects), status, and counters are not copied."
