Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of each week, a winner will be determined by forum poll. The winner's card will be rendered and featured on the Welcome page, and the winner decides the challenge for the next week's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our three-hundred and ninety-forth challenge! The winner of the "-=Crack the Code=-" poll was the5lacker with...And the challenge issued by our winner was... With Innistrad mostly behind us and Double Face Cards looking like they could be put back in the toolbox for a bit, lets go back to Strixhaven and a particular pet peeve of mine: The lack of Modal Dual Face Cards with spells on them. Barely more than half of the sixteen mDFCs in the set have an Instant or Sorcery on the back face, which is far too low of a number. Your challenge this week is to design a Modal Dual Face Card where one of the sides is an Instant or Sorcery. Either face is fine, or both, and don't worry about setting the card on Arcavios or sticking to the colors/factions therein. To increase your chances of winning and to also make creating the poll easier on whomever is doing so, please try to use a render. Additionally, please try to keep your entry edits all in one post - if you need to change it you can put your old entry in a spoiler marked "Old entry" and leave the newest rendition to be seen. Just use the edit button in the top/right of your original post.And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

Not much to say about this one, other than it might be too strong.
Corrupt Influence Instant ::mythic: Gain control of target permanent with a corruption counter on it. Untap it. If it's a creature, it gains haste. That permanent deals 2 damage to target player. {Sorcery } // Bleed Oblivion Sorcery Whenever a creature you control deals combat damage this turn, corrupt target permanent. (Put a corruption counter on it. Whenever a permanent with a corruption counter deals damage to a player, its controller loses 2 life.) {Instant }

It's a fun puzzle to make sure that both sides are worth playing.

It's a fun puzzle to make sure that both sides are worth playing. If you intend on either of those counter abilities to apply to the Beast, you'll want to move it up the list as they happen in order.

Exchange control of two target permanents. Exile ~. Being over ten thousand years old Skeznek has dirt on nearly everyone.

So, I initially misread the prompt, but then I thought "Por que no los dos?"
Multicephaloid Boon Tribal Instant--Hydra God This spell can’t be countered as long as your life total is greater than your starting life total. Put X +1/+1 counters on up to one target creature, then you gain life equal to the greatest power among creatures on the battlefield. If you’ve gained 10 or more life this turn, you may put this card onto the battlefield transformed. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Kephlos, God of Heads Legendary Creature--Hydra God Flash This spell can’t be countered. Kephlos, God of Heads has hexproof, indestructible, and “This permanent can’t be sacrificed” as long as your life total is greater than your starting life total. First strike, vigilance, trample, lifelink Kephlos, God of Heads’ power and toughness are each equal to your life total. */*

... don't worry about setting the card on Arcavios or sticking to the colors/factions therein... Well, I stick it into my own Set, where the pure (mono colored) always have to deal with the "stench" of tainted threads (multicolored/hybrid). Who may be right or wrong, who knows :-)

Academic Arena ::2::::B::::B:: Enchantment ::rare:: When ~ enters the battlefield and at the beginning of your upkeep, draw a card and lose 1 life.
"With time comes experience, with experience comes greatness" -Dean Shaile
//
Essay in Blood ::1::::B::::B:: Sorcery ::rare:: Draw three cards. You lose life equal to the number of cards in your hand.
"If you're not willing to suffer, you're not worthy of greatness." -Dean Embrose
When it comes to commander I've heard the question asked is it better to run phyrexian arena or nights whisper? Gradual advantage vs immediate advantage. If I was creating strixhaven I would have explored these two schools of thought on mdfc's. Giving both options within the same card.

Rescuer of the Lost Swift Creature - Angel (3/3) (You may cast a swift spell at any time.)Flying When Rescuer of the Lost enters the battlefield, you may return another target creature you control to its owner's hand. // Remember the Lost Sorcery You gain X life. Return target creature card with mana value X or less from you graveyard to the battlefield.
In case people can't intuit it, Swift is my personal replacement for Flash and Instants. And before any "Uh actually you *can't* cast Instants or spells with Flash at *any* time!" nonsense crops up, reminder text is not rules text, it's just for clarifying for new players, we don't need to go about mentioning priority or the stack on cards themselves. Nobody wants to see that.

Nobody wants to see that. Actually, I want to see that. I don't understand why something so fundamental to the operation of the game is treated like In N Out treats the majority of its catalogue. If beginning players can handle complex combat (ie gang-blocking, with or without trample &/or additional spells and abilities), then they can certainly handle LIFO, counter battles, et al.
