Welcome to the Deckbuilders' Challenge originally created by sdfkjgh! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a deck along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of every two weeks, a winner will be determined by forum poll, and the winner decides the challenge for the next fortnight's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our fortieth challenge! The winner of the “ The Deck of Two-Face(s) poll“ was Flo00 with... |

And the challenge issued by our runner-up was... Many cards are reprinted in different versions based on public demands, while many more have not. For this challenge, forget about your usual Sol Rings, Bloodstained Mires or Counterspells, because we need to build a deck with only cards that have been printed and reprinted in four or less major or reprint sets so far. The deck could be of any format. Note: - Basic lands don't count. You can have any number of basic lands in your deck. (Obviously)
- MTGO master set reprints and MTGA expansion sets/minisets (Historic Anthologies, etc.) are also considered different versions of printings.
- The promos and alternate art style cards in the same sets count as one (Three Visits and Three Visits are one. Three Visits fits the criteria despite that five versions are presented in Scryfall).
- Pro Tour Promos, Judge Gift cards and Secret Lair reprinted versions count, but MTGO/MTGA cubes don't. (Search for All Sets in Scryfall, and exclude the cubes)
- Different languages of the same card in the same set count as one. (Yes, Narset, Parter of Veils have only been reprinted in four sets.)
- To check how many sets a card has been printed/reprinted, you can type in !"~" include:extras in Scryfall searches to see the different versions.
Please provide a decklist using deckstats, tappedout or similar. Feel free to add some comments as they will be included in the final poll. Please provide a deck name as well as choose a card to represent your deck in the poll. And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

Interesting idea. Wish there was a way to filter reprints by amount on Scryfall to make it a bit easier, but I'm intrigued nonetheless.

A. L. U. R. E. N. (Astundingly Ludicrous, Unnecessarily Rebuilt, Enjoyable Nonsense) (Canadian Highlander)An Aluren combo deck that is forced to be slow midrange. To make up for the fact that the major pointed cards and common ones are filtered away by the challenge, you can see some ridiculous include in the deck. The major combo involves Aluren on the board, and the combo kill comes from a) Dream Stalker, Cavern Harpy and Vampire Spawn, or b) infinite Acererak triggers.
Note: Yes I'm aware that a Vintage version of the deck is more consistent and easier to play.

Snow Meese("Tribal Wars")So the reveal of Ulvenwald Oddity has resulted in some people pointing out "Moose" is not a Creature type (presumably because it would be too close to Elk). This leads to an interesting situation where among Magic cards featuring Mooses, some are Elks, and some like Ulvenwald Oddity are Beasts or something else. I decided to make a Tribal Wars-style deck featuring the various Mooses of Magic, with a bit of rough eyeballing and whatever I could find on Google (apparently a few Planeswalkers out there have already made private Moose tribal decks.) To make a long story short, moose apparently have distinctive beards and a more bell-shaped nose. Now, it turns out that if you just shove all the meese in Magic into a deck, you just get a badly imbalanced deck that is full of mostly 4-5 mana creatures. Normally, we'd resort to all manners of Green ramp, but it turns out everything from Rampant Growth to Fyndhorn Elves sees plenty of printings because what do you know, people like good ramp. The exception tend to be cards like Ruin in Their Wake that have very set-specific gimmicks... but that inspired me to look into Snow cards as I realized cards like Into the North and On Thin Ice are either single prints or have been reprinted very few times, either by being new cards or Snow 'staples' that haven't been focused on very often. Because the Snow duals instead got better versions in Kaldheim with basic land typing, this applied to both of them too, which is great for us as it means we can tap into other snow based payoffs like Blizzard Brawl to give our deck more interesting removal that isn't held down by the challenge restriction. You will notice a general absence of cards that cost 3 mana but I feel this is acceptable due to the number of etb tapped lands we work with. A small selection of 1-2 mana support and setup is better to use on those turns until we can start slamming meese onto the table.
