Cause oth the lack of restrictions in this one i added some on my own to spice it up .) dont use keywords or abilitywords that are mentioned here.) additionally, only use one keyword at all .) the theme ot the card should be time based (aka fitting for a "time spiral" succsessor)
.) time themed reminder required .) and regardless of all of that, keep it nice and simple I also set myself a bit more of a challenge by having a keyword from before Time Spiral and one from after it.

1) It seems weird seeing mutate, an ability that explicitly doesn't work with Humans, on a Human creature. Guess it's always going down onunder other creatures.
2) Is that Bruce Willis' doubled face?

Maybe not the place for it, but I always thought the "non-human" clause in Mutate seemed a bit arbitrary. I kind of see how, thematically, some dude getting the powers of some other random dude isn't much of a mutation, but at the same time there's no "non-artifact" or "non-wall" clause, so it's totally valid for a living thing to mutate into a crumbling, ancient pile of rocks. Just so long as it's not Bill from Accounting.

Before you ask, I can't remember where I read this (I think it might have Blogatog, but I can't be sure).

I can believe that, it's just silly that they'd exclude a type of living creature, but not any of the types that are explicitly not.

I can believe that, it's just silly that they'd exclude a type of living creature, but not any of the types that are explicitly not. The literal entire theme of the set and world is "Humans vs. Monsters." Mutate was the monster mechanic. Monsters mutate, humans don't. The fact that it also works with Elves, Dwarves, Kithkin, Vedalkin, Aetherborn, etc. is a consequence of the game being weird. The flavor works in the isolation of the world it's presented in. Now, the original plan for the mechanic was you could only mutate onto a creature that shared a creature type, but that was too restrictive and not fun enough, so they opened the mechanic up to all of the critters of Ikoria and beyond. But for the set to work the way it was intended to, especially in limited, Humans were excluded.

Yep, the5lacker 's "timeline" for Mutate is indeed correct.
