Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of each week, a winner will be determined by forum poll. The winner's card will be rendered and featured on the Welcome page, and the winner decides the challenge for the next week's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our three-hundred and seventy-third challenge! The winner of the "Reversible Design" poll was Jartis with...And the challenge issued by our winner was... I literally just finished playing D&D as I'm typing this, and I am super hyped for this new set, so I request that you all design a card that interacts with the new dungeons in some way. To increase your chances of winning and to also make creating the poll easier on whomever is doing so, please try to use a render. Additionally, please try to keep your entry edits all in one post - if you need to change it you can put your old entry in a spoiler marked "Old entry" and leave the newest rendition to be seen. Just use the edit button in the top/right of your original post. And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

When I saw the given challenge, I instantly knew what I wanted to do - time to focuss on the monsters lurking within the dungeon!

So, with this challenge, can we create a dungeon itself? It doesn't interact with one per se, but maybe?

Dungeon Investigations Enchantment At the beginning of each player’s upkeep, if that player is in a dungeon, they draw a card, then they venture into the dungeon. If that player is an opponent, you draw a card. For the picture I literally just googled the card name and took the best thing I could find. Which is asonishingly fitting.

Interesting question, pinging Jartis If you feel confident in doing that, go for it. Honestly I would have loved to make dungeon design the challenge, but they're so new and different that I figured renders would be a lot of work.

Find Traps Sorcery Target player reveals their hand. You choose an instant card or a card with flash from it. That player discards that card. Then venture into the dungeon. "Door's not trapped, darling. We can proceed." —Vex'ahlia Vessar{For those familiar with the property.} I don't actually recall Vex ever casting this. Vax usually just investigates.

Creature - Human Rogue (Rare) Flash When Trap Specialist enters the battlefield, venture into the dungeon. (Enter the first room or advance to the next room.) Whenever you venture into the dungeon, roll a d20. 1-9 | You lose 1 life. 10-19 | You may counter that room’s ability. 20 | You may counter that room’s ability. Scry 1, then draw a card. 3/2 This is a tricky one to word for obvious reasons, so any suggestions for syntax would be great.

Trap Specialist (1)(U/B) Creature - Human Rogue (Rare)
When ~ enters the battlefield, venture into the dungeon. Whenever you venture into the dungeon, you may ignore the effect of the next dungeon effect.
1/2

"Whenever you venture into the dungeon, you may counter that room's ability." should work.

We goin' on a deep dive, bitches!
Tucker's Kobolds Creature--Kobold Soldier Rogue Flash This spell can’t be countered. This creature has indestructible and protection from opponents as long as it isn’t a token, and isn’t legendary as long as it is a token. At the beginning of each player’s upkeep, that player ventures into the dungeon. (They choose which dungeon.) Whenever an opponent ventures into a dungeon or this creature dies, create a token copy of this creature, then for each creature you control named Tucker’s Kobolds, that creature deals 1 damage to each opponent and each creature and each planeswalker that player controls. 0/1

Just had this idea for an unavoidable room for a dungeon:
Portal to the Yester If you would leave this room, roll a d20. (Spindown dice aren't allowed.) If you don't roll a 20, you enter this room instead.

Played around with cajun's dungeon template for a while... Yeah, those are really hard to design, especially flavorfully. Tried to make Death House many times. Either way, have one of my many other ideas, inspired by Trading Post. {Old Entry} Marketplace Artifact Whenever you complete a dungeon, you may create five Treasures. , Sacrifice a Treasure: Draw a card. , Sacrifice two Treasures: Venture into the dungeon. , Sacrifice three Treasures: Add .

For the record: six is where the formating changes nowadays

For the record: six is where the formating changes nowadays I was wondering where the cutoff was. I guess any higher than five makes it harder to discern. Just look at the higher energy costs and generations. After a while, I find myself going a bit crosseyed and losing track of how many symbols there are.
Anyone else have this problem?

Apparently the "normal" threshold lies at four to five.

Apparently the "normal" threshold lies at four to five. I knew there had to be an actual term for it. Thanks.

MaRo recently mentioned this in one of his podcasts as well, if I recall correctly. They changed things to the new formating after learning from complaints WotC received for some energy costs.

Resting at the Tavern Sorcery Draw a card. At the beginning of your next upkeep, venture into the dungeon. (Enter the first room or advance to the next room.)
Whenever you complete a dungeon, you may return ~ from your graveyard to your hand. There’s a reason so many adventures start this way.
Come on, how am I the first person to use the old "resting at a tavern between dungeons" thing?

Come on, how am I the first person to use the old "resting at a tavern between dungeons" thing? Well, crap. I was actually working on the exact same concept, with the exact same image, but couldn't finish last night. Now that it's done, somebody beat me to the punch (mine is very different, and white, but still the same concept). Alright, back to the drawing board I guess. I've played enough DnD, I should be able to come up with something else.
