Welcome to the Deckbuilders' Challenge originally created by sdfkjgh! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a deck along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of every two weeks, a winner will be determined by forum poll, and the winner decides the challenge for the next fortnight's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our twenty-sixth challenge! The winner of the “Casting Call challenge“ by default was melono with... |
{Comments} A commander deck build around the characters Xayah and Rakan from LoL, where Radiant is Xayah, and Ishai is Rakan. All the owls represent their familiars from the Star Guardians skins, which are my favorite. Other creatures and cards are other representations of the characters or of their abilities/traits (and some are aspects of LoL itself).
EDIT: Also, remove %7D still from the url if you're on the table if you want to test it. And you have to push Start Game in the top left to start testing. |
And the challenge issued by our winner was... Make a deck where at least two different cards in your main deck make you, the player of those cards, lose life (or deal damage to you).Whether this lifeloss is your main strategy, or just happenstance in order to make your strategy work, both are totally fine. Just remember to get hurt the right way Please provide a decklist using deckstats, tappedout or similar. Feel free to add some comments as they will be included in the final poll. Please provide a deck name as well as choose a card to represent your deck in the poll. And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

Finally, an opportunity to break Gitaxian Probe and Street Wraith! I kid, I'll try and at least be classy about this one because I feel like there has to be a lot of underrated life loss cards out there, but for those looking for an easy way out just to show off a cool deck they made this round, you can throw Gitaxian Probe and Street Wraith into whatever you're brewing and solve the challenge that way. Daij_Djan - Re: the last challenge - oof, I'd honestly gotten so tunnel visioned into making an RTR Dimir-esque deck that wasn't One Land spy that I'd completely missed that Destroy the Evidence didn't work, haha.

Yet another Pauper deck from me baby. You put out a ton of zombies, then whop the opponent with Shepherd of Rot and Gempalm Polluter. Those fodder zombs also chomp away at your opponent's health through cards like Maggot Carrier and Tattered Mummy.

Spike Wish(Casual)DecklistAt first glance, this deck appears to be a mono-Black deck based on Legacy "Demon Stompy" lists to some extent, which are about using Ancient Tomb and various other mana acceleration to power out cards like Archdemon of Paliano and Mardu Strike Leader to quickly run over the opponent. However, with enough mana and life, we can instead kill our opponent out of nowhere by rushing out Spike, Tournament Grinder, who then wishes for Time Vault and Voltaic Key to give you infinite turns. This also gives us the benefit of letting us put Demon Stompy's hate pieces like Chalice of the Void and Trinisphere in the sideboard instead of the mainboard, since Spike can fetch them as well. Alternatively, we can try to get a bunch of free spells ready so that we can Storm off into Empty the Warrens or Mind's Desire for an unexpected win, or grab Ancestral Recall or Demonic Consultation to either help us find more free spells or just draw a lot of cards if we are digging for an answer.

Fossil Fuels
(Casual) This contest gives me the perfect excuse to use two of my favorite cards in one deck: Pyrohemia and Fungusaur! Hopefully I can survive this reckless use of dinosaurs as fuel long enough to trample over my opponent with Primal Rage! I also included Bloodfire Dwarf and Rain of Embers as pseudo-Pyrohemias, and to make the deck fit the challenge requirements.
Advice is appreciated!
