Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of each week, a winner will be determined by forum poll. The winner's card will be rendered and featured on the Welcome page, and the winner decides the challenge for the next week's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our three-hundred and thirty-eighth challenge! The winner of the "Animaidens" poll was SilentKobold with...And the challenge issued by our winner was... Let's skip the introductions for this one: Design a card with two or fewer lines of rules text (Reminder Texts aren't Rules Text) To increase your chances of winning and to also make creating the poll easier on whomever is doing so, please try to use a render. Additionally, please try to keep your entry edits all in one post - if you need to change it you can put your old entry in a spoiler marked "Old entry" and leave the newest rendition to be seen. Just use the edit button in the top/right of your original post. And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

The flavor for my entry is inspired by an incredible fan-fiction from an old show. Mega bonus points if you get it.
Inspired by the story "Background Pony" by shortskirtsandexplosions.

Withdrawn due to similarities to Hunt Down. Challenger's Roar Sorcery Target creature must block target creature you control this turn if able. "Face me like a true warrior of the land!"Rules text is formatted to reflect how it'd actually display on a render.

Inspired by Throes of Chaos. I never felt that its name really fit that well, so here's a more chaotic version.

ZephyrPhantom, sorry, but I wanted to bring to your attention that Challenger's Roar is just Hunt Down from Lorwyn with a little extra text ("target creature you control").

FLAREdirector A neat ability, and good call pointing out LEGENDNAME. I like the card overall, it's very flavorful for white.
Orion Rings Two keywords, they make a good combination here. It's definitely random, since you could pay 1 mana to get a big 5-drop bomb, or you could get a dinky goblin. I feel like this is pretty difficult to build around, which makes it more interesting.
melono Something about this being double green doesn't feel right to me. Maybe having it be double red instead, or replace a green with a black?
odivesco A pretty simple effect. Seems fun!
Jartis It feels a bit strange to see a red card care about milling, but then it occurred to me that this is actually an anti-mill card as well as self-mill reward! I like the double design, it seems really cool. Good job!
gateways7 A different take on Negate, basically its cost is more restrictive but it gets the upside of cycling when you don't need it. Seems good!

I didn't want to rely on reminder text for this one, so I put a good amount of flavor text in there to make a little more room in those two lines of rules text.

FLAREdirector It's funny because when making this card I was thinking "What is the simplest way I could put a spin on fight?" It seems that WoTC was thinking the same thing in one of their many iterations of proto-fight, lol. I'll leave it up as there is technically a difference until if/when I can think of a better ide.a

{Text} Homarid Zombie Creature - Homarid Zombie Crumble (At the beginning of your upkeep, put a -1/-1 counter on this creature.) Undying (When this creature dies, if it had no +1/+1 counters on it, return it to the battlefield under its owner's control with a +1/+1 counter on it.) 2/1

I pondered about maybe entering a simple common or trying to come up with a uniqure rare effect - but in the end I couldn't resist.. Here, have this dumpster fire of a card I came up with in March:
Fun fact: This is now the third ever Super Mario design I entered into a CotW contest

Wait, does that mean that if a consensus is achieved, then it's activated once for each player?

if everyone votes yes, everyone draws 1 card. Then you definitely need a different wording. You could even make it tie into a past mechanic:
Council's Dilemma--: Starting with you, each player votes yes or no. If each player votes yes, each player draws a card.

I decided I wanted to try something a little more distinct than my first entry, so I took some inspiration from round 336's themes and made this: Judgement Cut Legendary Instant (You may cast a legendary instant only if you control a legendary creature or planeswalker.)Exile target spell. "Foolishness, Dante, foolishness."Funnily enough, the closest thing you can get to this simple effect in actual Magic is Spell Queller, Ashiok's Erasure, or Mindbreak Trap. Keeping in line with the more modern interpretations, this "Exile target spell." is also conditional - mainly in the sense you need a stone-cold badass creature or planeswalker present to cast it and cut the opposing spellcraft involved in half. The effect was partially inspired by how Vergil generally is intended to play in Devil May Cry games - you're generally rewarded for slowly walking towards opponents and calmly evading their moves until you can unleash powerful quick-draw slashes at the right time. Likewise, Judgement Cut is similarly designed in the sense that you can only fire it under very specific conditions and it's in your best interests to wait until that is possible. Gameplay-wise, this is meant to be a follow-up counterspell in decks that can quickly throw down something like Baral, Chief of Compliance, Tomik, Distinguished Advokist, and other restrictive Legendaries/Commanders that want to reactively control the flow of battle, much like Vergil himself.

Been bogged down with other things the past couple weeks, didn't have a ton of time to work on this one, but I'm enjoying the use of pre-defined tokens in sets lately. Must give much credit to Xenagos and their Venturous Eldrazi from #333.
