mortelys Wow, I love this card. Were you inspired by the art, or did you just happen to find the perfect art after the fact? Thourghtle, heh heh, I love it. Can you imagine BenS trying to pronounce that one?
Thanks a lot ! I was inspired by the art for the little "lore". I just knew I wanted to do a blue milling turtle and came across this perfect art with blue magic, on artstation if I remember correctly. Then I reflected on who exactly would be such a turtle that it could "mill your mind" :-)

Child of Combustible Gearhulk, cousin of Browbeat. In comparison to latter, pushed it to for distinguishing the mana cost, underpinned by the extra self-mill / sifting synergy potential.

I like the flavor idea that Milling cards is losing one's mind. Tried to have this feel in how the card works.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I initially did have it as a trigger rather than an active ability, but it just felt too complex. Thanks for the kind words!
Edit: wait, I thought I replied to attaturk. whoops!

Part 2, if I can squeeze it in before the thread closes! Rat The cycling is an inspired modification. Nice! ZephyrPhantom Wow, that's a neat effect. Almost a much more fair snapcaster with the flash. ......Aaaaand reading your notes, you thought of all that. So, I guess it worked! Love it, love the art, love the flavor. digiman619 props for the flavor tie-in. Gambling is so clearly red, but also has the element of insanity that mill delivers... It's an elegant pairing. Orion Rings I can see this being neat in a control deck that has a recursive final threat. I wonder if it shouldn't be 2UU, seeing as future sight has such a blue heavy casting cost. The spooky flavor works quite well spazlaz Wow, for a while I had to sit and think if cumulative upkeep could even work that way... I think it can, and the general effect then makes sense, but I wonder if it might make more sense to write out the mechanic since the choice doesn't matter as much unless you're putting it on yourself.... E.g. "At the beginning of enchanted player's upkeep (switched it to theirs to make it happen before your next turn), put a memory counter on ~, then they mill a number of cards equal to the number of memory counters on ~." If you wanted the choice to sac, you could put that at the beginning. Anyway, the design is effective, and meaningfully sad. sade Heheh nice. I'm not sure how you make flour in a shredder, but I figure it'll work out. Jartis Oooh, well that's a slick one. Gonna be some tough decisions this week. I don't have much to say--it just all works so well. I wonder if it couldn't affect your hand in some way, too, a la experimental frenzy, but I appreciate the very clean design more than the added effect. Posting now to maybe squeeze in--will try to look at the cool ones on p2 in time. Cheers everyone for some amazing creativty.

Edit: wait, I thought I replied to attaturk . whoops! You know, I was just pondering this, and I'm curious what you think about something like this: I feel like it's almost as clean, and with the closer-to-WotC line spacing for the modal part, I feel like it doesn't get too much more compressed... No idea if it plays better, but the johnny in me had to try.

Daij_Djan I like this design a lot. I don't know if WotC would print it, but it pushes the boundaries in a considerate way. Plus, utilizing the white graveyard interaction really emphasizes the fact that white does get to touch the yard every now and then. Top it off with a perfect choice of art and I'm convinced. Glad you like it Part 2, if I can squeeze it in before the thread closes! Well, you were lucky as I'm really late today thanks to RL stuff..
This thread is now closed, the poll can be found here. And here's the next challenge!
