Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of each week, a winner will be determined by forum poll. The winner's card will be rendered and featured on the Welcome page, and the winner decides the challenge for the next week's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our three-hundred and twenty-fifth challenge! The winners of the "Better with Friends" poll were Daij_Djan (left) and Giraculum (right) with...And the challenge issued by one of our winners was... Your challenge for this week is to design a card clearly aimed for a multiplayer environment (whether it's one with teams or not) – however to add one restriction (and follow my mantra): Only commons are allowed! To increase your chances of winning and to also make creating the poll easier on whomever is doing so, please try to use a render. Additionally, please try to keep your entry edits all in one post - if you need to change it you can put your old entry in a spoiler marked "Old entry" and leave the newest rendition to be seen. Just use the edit button in the top/right of your original post. And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

Hopefully "unofficial" formats are fine. For anyone unfamiliar with the Emperor format, basically it's 3v3 (as many teams of 3 as you want, really). The middle player on each team is the Emperor, you win if the other team's Emperor dies, but you can only attack the player seated next to you, so basically this card circumvents that rule, specifically.

Jartis : I'd love to play a game of Star* Emperor, where each of the emperors is also an Archenemy [/url], with their own, unique Scheme deck. Mebbe someday, once the horribleness is over (at least 3 years from now), and I can get 14 other like-minded players.[/p]
*The version of Star that I'm familiar with is much lest restrictive, and just has the basic premise of adjacent players are allies, opposite players are enemies, game just becomes regular multiplayer at 3 players.

sdfkjgh: Why stop there when you can add in some Planechase as well? XD You could also theoretically throw in Commanders and Vanguards, but that's probably a bit much, even for this...hmm...Conspiracies?

Not sure if I get the question correctly, but all cards are supposed to be designed by you. So no WotC reprints, however you may generally use designs you came up with in the past already - except when a CotW challenge repeats itself (which happens rarely but it does happen) and I add a note to the challenge banning cards from the previous iteration. Hope this answers your question?

Yes it does, I meant like cards I've made for past sets, and you said that's allowed

Unless the specific challenge rules them out (which this one obviously doesn't): Absolutely!

Soaring Show-Off + Gravedigger = Grave Trencher Creature - Zombie When Grave Trencher enters the battlefield, each player may return a creature card from their graveyard to their hand. 2/2

Fireworks Show Instant Hivemind (When you cast this spell, each other player may pay its hivemind cost. Each player that does copies it and may choose new targets for their copy.) Fireworks Show deals 3 damage to any target. It's a little derivative from Replicate, and Chain of Plasma, but I thought magic players would be very used to slinging lightning bolts at each other. I think this card shines in team games since you can cooperate with a friend to destroy a big creature. There's kind of an upper limit though, since in a 15-player ffa edh game, playing this spell allows your 14 opponents to pile on and wipe away your life total on turn 1.

Genuinely not sure if it should be "you get three, everyone else gets one" but I erred on the side of bountiful buffets.

I present to you Common Knowledge Also a potential mechanic for a Conspiracy Set I'm planning to make Discovery Island 1U Instant When you cast this spell, if there are 10 or more cards in all graveyards, you may have it become common knowledge. (Each other player copies this spell, they may choose new targets for the copy.)Target player mills 4 cards.

The Clash Begins Sorcery Starting with you, each player votes for strike or weave. If strike gets more votes, The Clash Begins deals 5 damage to target player or planeswalker. If weave gets more votes, target player draws three cards, then discards two cards. I wanted to try and capture the feeling of you playing a card that depicted a sort of epic brawl between players, with other players being either supporters or hinderers of the fight. Multiplayer games tend to have higher life totals, so 5 damage isn't as strong an effect as it might look, especially when it's already weakened by being on a card where the opponent has to choose; at the same time, though, it's high enough that it could certainly win the game out of nowhere in a slugfest. The card draw might seem strong in a graveyard deck, but it's intended to be that way, particularly in a Commander game - you play this early on and get players fighting over whether you're a more straightforward damage-based deck or a combo-based graveyard one, or you play it when everyone's on their last legs and get players fighting over whether it's better for you to get close to killing someone or draw gas that might kill everyone.

Small note that a creature remains goaded until your next turn.
