Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of each week, a winner will be determined by forum poll. The winner's card will be rendered and featured on the Welcome page, and the winner decides the challenge for the next week's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our three-hundred and twentieth challenge! The winner of the "Colorless Is More" poll was Orion Rings with...And the challenge issued by our winner was... Magic has had many keyword mechanics over the years, and some have had great potential but were held back in some way. That's why this week I'd like you to create a card with an existing non-evergreen keyword mechanic. Here's a (slightly outdated) list if you're having trouble. To increase your chances of winning and to also make creating the poll easier on whomever is doing so, please try to use a render. Additionally, please try to keep your entry edits all in one post - if you need to change it you can put your old entry in a spoiler marked "Old entry" and leave the newest rendition to be seen. Just use the edit button in the top/right of your original post. And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

Here's a fun utility land with delicious snowy flavor. Hope it's alright for the card to grant the keyword and not directly have it. Otherwise I'll just come up with something different.

I just whipped up a spreadsheet, so you can search Magic's keywords by type, usage, and block of origin. Hope it's useful!

I'm unreasonably proud of this card's double meaning name. SilentKobold I love how your design combines old and new, great work! Aarhg Yep that's fine, as long as it's got the keyword on it

Fermat: I really like this design, especially since one could so easily expand it out to be a :
Absorb 2 (If a source would deal damage to this creature, prevent 2 of that damage.) T: Add . Whenever damage that would be dealt to ~ is prevented, put that many +1/+1 counters on it. T, Remove X +1/+1 Counters from ~: Add X mana in any combination of types.
Anyway, here's Wndrwllmy entry:
Dregscape Explorer Creature--Goblin Scout First strike, trample Unearth (: Return this card from your graveyard to the battlefield. It gains haste. Exile it at the beginning of the end step or if it would leave the battlefield. Unearth only as a sorcery.) When you unearth Dregscape Explorer, it enters the battlefield with +X/+0 until end of turn. 2/2

spazlaz: Just a heads up, this needs to specify nontoken creatures else the fabricate tokens will have fabricate.

Decided to do amplify. Couldn't resist making a dinosaur. Erupting Allosaurus 3RG Creature - Dinosaur Elemental Amplify 2 (As this creature enters the battlefield, put two +1/+1 counters on it for each Dinosaur card you reveal in your hand.) R, Remove a +1/+1 counter from Erupting Allosaurus: It deals 1 damage to any target.

Oh look, a pun that actually works. Maybe a bit expensive, but I based it on Thousand-Year Storm and bumped the rarity down since it's a one-off effect.

I decided to change my entry to something more exciting. A big*, dumb beater with retrace!
* Size may vary depending on amount of Mountains in graveyard. For optimal size, have many Mountains.

I've said it in the past and I'll say it again: Overload was fine, but making all cards all-upside made me really, really sad. So take this card I designed a few weeks ago
(Mot meant for a Standard legal set, I know the CMC3 LD wouldn't work there )

I don't believe that Sweep is a good mechanical fit for Kamigawa, but it could fit really well in Zendikar! This card refers to the four seeds that Nissa was given from Zendikar, which she is looking to plant somewhere to restore the forests anew.

SilentKobold Love how simple and elegant this design is. Only downside is that it doesn't have the reminder text for scavenge, but that's pretty minor IMO.
Aarhg Very synergistic! Nice. Seems a bit strong for 3 mana, IMO, but not so strong that it couldn't be printed.
Fermat Good take on absorb! Having that wording sounds so natural now that we have similar implementations for other recent mechanics.
gateways7 I like the play between the discard part and the rebound. You get more info for the second time around. My only concern is that this can currently name "Land" as a card type, so you can rip the lands out of their hands.
ArkiThe7th This seems like a fun build-around card for Dinosaur tribal. You drop it and it is not only a big dumb beater but can serve as a pinger for your enrage effects, or just pick off your opponent's weak creatures. Really great design.
@daij djan I agree that this card is probably too pushed to be printed in real magic, but it's a fun design.

viriss : I find this design really interesting, especially since I was previously unaware of this most recent change to the rules for phasing. The card also makes me think of that one film (which I've never actually seen, but always wanted to).
EDIT: Having just read the Wikipedia synopsis, I now realize that your entry is a direct translation, names and all. D'OH!
FLAREdirector: Oh sweet Jared, don't you remember what happened last time convoke and delve were both on the same creature?

sdfkjgh Yeah? I was deliberately trying to make a card that also had convoke and delve but wasn't frighteningly powerful. Hogaak was a deliberate inspiration for me.

I was trying to make this one Eldritch Moon flavored (Villagers and Necromancers working together), but pics of zombies fighting alongside normal soldiers are hard to come by.
