I'm really bad at planeswalker design, so I'm gonna force myself to do it until I get better at it. This one was inspired by my love for Hedron Alignment, and the fact that we don't have a sphinx planeswalker since Azor gave up his spark to create the Immortal Sun.

Deconis, Promised Slaughterer Legendary Planeswalker - Deconis Each creature you sacrifice while you cast Deconis pays for . : Draw a card and lose 1 life for each creature that died this turn. : Return target creature from your graveyard to the battlefield. It gains haste. Return it to your hand at the beginning of the next end step. : At the beginning of your next upkeep, each creature deals X damage to itself. Deconis is a giant demon that gets called from plane to plane by his cultists. Once the ceremony is done, he gains control of the minds of his followers and eats them and makes them kill each other for his own entertainment. After leaving, once his cult has been destroyed, he manipulates someone to tell them that an evil spirit did this and convinces them to form an organization to call for them to protect them against this evil, by doing all sorts of rituals. Until finally, he gets called and the cycle repeats... He is such a nice guy.

Enoq, Sentient Plane Plane Planeswalker - Enoq (If this plane has no loyalty counters on it, planeswalk.)Whenever you roll , put three loyalty counters on Enoq, Sentient Plane and it gains all loyalty abilities of all planeswalkers on the battlefield until end of turn. You may activate one of its loyalty abilities as though none of its loyalty abilities have been activated this turn. : Scry 1, then draw a card. : Enoq deals 3 damage to any target and 3 damage to you. : Exile each nonland permanent, then each player may put a permanent from their hand onto the battlefield. You gain 5 life. This would have a planar back, so you can encounter it in the planar deck. Each player can activate one of its loyalty abilities during their turn. The turned out to be a bit too wordy for my taste.

How about a planeswalker that no longer has any corporeal form?
Ashiok, the Wisp of Memory Legendary Planeswalker--Ashiok : Each opponent gets an emblem with “At the beginning of your upkeep, exile the top card of your library face down.” : Create a 0/0 blue and black Nightmare Horror creature token with “This creature gets +1/+1 for each face down card in exile.” : You get an emblem with “You may look at and play face down cards from exile.”

Hi, just a quick note: You're definitely right, but I've been really swamped this week. With a bit of luck, I should be able to get started on Sunday, though
EDIT: So yeah, as usual this didn't really go to plan - it rarely fails as hard as this time though.. Sorry for the additional delay, as you might have seen in the CotW area, I've managed to fall ill for the entire last week. To not stall this any further, considering I still have quite a lot to catch up to, I'll just announce the winner for now - will hopefully later on add a full judging!
Winner (for thinking out of the box in an awesome way) is Flo00 with lordpat as runner-up!

Thanks for the win Daij! Next challenge: Go to a random page of the Commander Game, pick a commander from that page and make a planeswalker you'd use in the 99 for that commander!... and of course, please tell me which commander you picked (either link to the post, quote it or tell me the name & page). Good luck and have fun!

29 *Goes to page 29, scrolls down to see my own entry, brain vomits out this thing*:
I originally wanted to use this, as the art I was forced to use looks a lil' too derpy, but my preferred art unfortunately doesn't fit a 'walker, Texas Ranger card.
Epo the Friendly
Legendary Planeswalker--Epo
: Each player draws a card and gains 3 life.
: Each player returns up to one permanent they own and/or control to its owner’s hand. You may activate this ability as an instant, but only if you haven’t activated it since your last turn began.
: Each player gets an emblem with “Spells you cast cost less to cast” and “Magecraft—Whenever a player casts or copies a spell, you add one mana of any type.”
EDIT: Alright, Flo00 , you've convinced me.

Page 36...and to stroke my own ego, I'm gonna choose one of the submissions from my challenge to design a three color commander...also partly because my other option is to choose a noncreature, nonplaneswalker commander, which is an idea I love, but I think the closest we'll get to it is dual faced cards. For the SilentKobold's commander: Garrath, Aged Mentor Legendary Creature - Human Wizard Other legendary creatures you control get +1/+1 and gain haste. Sacrifice ~: Legendary permanents you control gain indestructible until end of turn. Partner 3/3

sdfkjgh just so I get this right, if I want, I could activate the in my turn and then the in one of my opponent's turns, right? Also, that's not really magecraft.

sdfkjgh just so I get this right, if I want, I could activate the in my turn and then the in one of my opponent's turns, right? Also, that's not really magecraft. 1) Yes, you can on your turn, then on an opponent's turn.
2) Magecraft, as an ability word, can be whatever we say it is, so long as all instances of it bear a passing resemblance to each other. I would argue that Magecraft's defining characteristic is triggering off of casting or copying spells.

ad 2) While thi sis true, I would argue that here is a pretty clear guideline: Each magecraft ability has a different effect, although they all have the same trigger condition, whenever you cast or copy an instant or sorcery spell. Also I think it's confusing to use an existing abilily word and use it in a different way. When I read Magecraft - , I usually skip half a sentence forward, outright ignoring what the trigger is, because I can savely assume I already know.

Last call for entries! Judging tomorrow. This week has begun more busy than I anticipated. sdfkjgh wins. I'll try to write a full judging this week, no promises though.EDIT: Full judging. {sdfkjgh}Group hug planeswalker sounds like an interesting idea. I actually like that you can use the in an asymmetric way if control-changing effects are involved. It's a bit crazy that you can get the ultimate in your next turn after Epo hits the battlefield. Looks to me that this is an easy storm enabler. {Ymonrah}That's a strange one. It is quite color heavy. It doesn't actually do that much until you get it the ultimate. Its super easy to protect. I guess its pretty good to keep a storm deck running.
{Jartis}I think Wyllt is quite expensive for what it does. From for 5 mana I expect strong efffects. The doesn't really do anything on its own and the seems like a weak version of that a lot of Ajanis do. It also takes forever to get it to ultimate. This could easily have . One other thing that strikes me as weird si the charge counter thing. While it makes for a nice build-around, it will most certainly also create some random counters sitting unselessly on permanents.

Flo00: Thanks for the win.
Let's do something a little strange. Limiting yourself to Volume 1 (that's Alpha through Apocalypse), pick a legendary creature to turn into a planeswalker whose abilities and mana cost feel like a natural evolution of the original creature's abilities and mana cost. Your choice of number of planeswalker abilities.
However, there's a special secret: I have picked a particular legendary creature, which I will reveal at the end of Judging. If any of you manage to base your design off of this creature, it's an automatic win.
You have two weeks.

Pu up a judging of the last challenge. Also, entry: Axelrod, Crusher of Hope Legendary Planeswalker - Axelrod : Put a trample counter or a lifelink counter on target permanent. : Axelrod, Crusher of Hope deals X damage to target creature or planeswalker. When this permanent dies this turn, Axelrod deals X damage to its controller. I think is ok for this because it's quite color heavy and has only 2 abilities.

Flo00: To be quite honest with you, I completely forgot about this. Sorry all.
Jartis: I was having a hard time figuring out how your entry's first two abilities matched up to Darigaaz, but then I took an arrow to the kneechecked Gatherer and saw you were referencing his Charm. Clever.
Flo00: I think you meant to say "that permanent", as "this permanent" implies that when your entry itself dies, it deals etc. etc. Other than that, you captured the character's essence slightly better than Jartis.
Sanfonier of the Night: Sometimes one can go a little too deep into their theme. Yes, Tahngarth may as well be called "Fighty-Fighty Man", but that's not all he does. Plus, your templating needs a bit of work, especially since keeping Tahngarth as a planeswalker when he fights still removes loyalty counters when he's dealt damage, and is an automatic forced sacrifice.
In the end, Flo00's elegant simplicity of design just barely managed to squeak by Jartis, who was too clever by half for their own good. You tell people that a planeswalker is based on a legendary creature, they're gonna look to that creature to see the inspiration, not a card tangentially related to that creature. Mebbe you could do the tangential reference for the third, fourth, or fifth version of the planeswalker, but not as the first. @minividrus, keep working at your designs, there's something worth exploring here, it just needs some cleaning up.
Oh, and the correct answer was Veldrane of Sengir.

Sanfonier of the Night : Now, see, this is different enough that it's like a whole new entry. I would've liked to've seen you work more on the original entry, but it's all a bit moot now.
Flo00 : How about instead of a certain creature type, we go for a certain set of linked permanents?
Iji, Freed from Surface Legendary Planeswalker--Ada : Search your graveyard, hand, library, and exile for a card named Ada’s Reflection and put it onto the battlefield. If you searched your library this way, shuffle. : You may sacrifice a creature named Ada’s Reflection. If you do, you may choose a card you own from outside the game named Ada of Mirrors and put it onto the battlefield. : If you control a permanent named Iji, Freed from Surface, a permanent named Ada of Mirrors, and a permanent named Ada’s Reflection, for each permanent on the battlefield, you may create a token copy of that permanent, except that token’s not legendary. Iji, Freed from Surface can only ever be your commander.
For reference:
Ada's Reflection Creature--Reflection Minion Ada’s Reflection enters the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it. When Ada’s Reflection enters the battlefield, proliferate. (Choose any number of permanents and/or players with counters on them, then give each another counter of each kind already there.) 0/0
Ada of Mirrors Legendary Planeswalker--Ada : Populate. : Proliferate. : Create a token that’s a copy of target creature. : Populate, then populate, then populate, then proliferate, then proliferate, then proliferate. (Put a token onto the battlefield that’s a copy of a creature token you control.)

Ghrem, The Eternal Sinner Legendary Planeswalker - Ghrem Whenever you cast a Cleric or Angel spell, if you don't have a (D), you get one. ( (D) is a divinity counter. ): Create two 1/1 white Soldier tokens. Then you may pay (D) counter to put a deathtouch on each of them. : Return target creature card from your graveyard to your hand. If you pay (D), put it onto the battlefield instead. : Exile up to three nonland permanents. Then you may pay (D), if you do, put one of them onto the battlefield under your control. Ghrem is a warlord and wizard who often commits terrible crimes, but then feels really guilty and seeks forgiveness from the church. And then he loses his way and does it again. And again. EDIT: Btw, the divinity mechanic only allows you to have one (D) at a time. Other cards would be worded similarly to this. I guess you can try to proliferate it. Also, I just realized that saying that saying the letter D in place of (D) is bad, just call it divinity counter please. EDIT2: Enflish not first language. I changed it to divinty counter because getting a "divinty" sounds weird.
