Thanks! Yep, Naena was intended to be the dragon in the background. Also, I'm not sure my formatting was an issue- making it modal means you have to lock your choices, and thus the number of creatures it affects, as you activate it, meaning that neither you nor your opponent can add or remove creatures.
Your next challenge: Design a planeswalker with two or less starting loyalty!

Tibalt, Pain Incarnate Legendary Planeswalker - Tibalt : Tibalt, Pain Incarnate deals 1 damage to any target. Creatures dealt damage this way can't block this turn. : Discard a card, then draw a card. : Tibalt, Pain Incarnate deals damage to creatures, other planeswalkers, and players equal to the number of cards in your hand. Discard your hand, then draw five cards.

This was part of an experiment I made. I tried to make a 1 mana walker for each color and blue was the most "balanced".

late but done. apologies {viriss} Jormun and the Hellion tokens are quite beefy. A +3 is a good way to bulk up quickly, but I’m wary of how difficult it seems to kill Jormun through combat damage, with 4/4s clogging the board and quickly escalating loyalty values. Maybe +2? The plus effect is nice, though. I’m not a super big fan of the minus, since there’s often little reason to play a three drop colorless ritual, meaning it’s likely only used after a plus. The ult is solid. {Haiku} Is this supposed to be an uncommon planeswalker like in WAR? Hybrid is misused here, as the activated ability isn’t white in any sense. I also really don’t like that Lucy creates two different tokens, both of which are the same type and color. The name could help differentiate, sure, but either making the tokens distinct or the same would be much better. The activated ability is interesting (though, again, not white), and the loyalty ability is okay. Unfortunately I also think Lucy will play very same-y, with the only real decision point being to make a second token or keep the mana generation around. {Tesagk} Should’ve taken a closer look and asked about this, but I’m unsure whether the triggered ability counts tokens (“or less enters the battlefield under your control”) or just cards (“cast a creature spell with”). Only makes a difference where I talk about the ult though. I really like the minus combined with the no plus build. While it is repeatable turn to turn, there’s a good amount of work required to enable Asta without going straight to 0 loyalty. The weaknesses of only removing tapped creatures also helps. That being said, it’s still removal, so the backup of a two mana kill spell on last turn’s attacker is solid. The ult is a lot more lackluster, though, since even if tokens are counted you need the equivalent of three Raise the Alarms- a large investment compared to similar ults (Elspeth, Vivien) since those planeswalkers let you get value out of them while you “wait.” I’d put it at a -6 at most, maybe higher with an additional keyword or something. {Xenozfan2} Tibalt, Pain Incarnate Legendary Planeswalker - Tibalt : Tibalt, Pain Incarnate deals 1 damage to any target. Creatures dealt damage this way can't block this turn. : Discard a card, then draw a card. : Tibalt, Pain Incarnate deals damage to creatures, other planeswalkers, and players equal to the number of cards in your hand. Discard your hand, then draw five cards. Having seen and heard about the work Wrenn and Six, I can say that the plus is almost certainly too good. Obviously, those are two different cards that are probably aimed at different formats but spreading damage around is super good and removing larger blockers is icing on the cake. The minus is fine and very red in how it rewards you for having no cards in hand. The ult presents an interesting dilemma, but I think it’s a bit too much of a dilemma- especially since having even one card in your hand means you potentially nuke your own creatures. Sure, that also fits with Tibalt, but I feel it detracts from the reward of an ult. {gateways7} Luvos has an interesting static/replacement effect there. Not a fan of being unable to play it without any creatures, but I like how it scales up if the game drags on. Unsure if the token making is okay- WOTC typically avoids allowing three mana walkers to choose between making an army and chump block forever (see new rare Chandra vs B/R Daretti or Nissa, Voice of Zendikar) which I agree with. That being said, the concern there is often that you’ll just be able to chump until you hit the ult, which doesn’t really exist for Luvos. I do like the minus/ult a lot, as flicker has a lot of versatility… though flicker is also a nonbo with the tokens. Awkward. {Jartis} Kaira’s plus is neat, if a little low-impact but it doesn’t really matter since you’re looking for the fat +3/+3 bonus anyways. The ult doesn’t feel super unique (I like what the Tezzerets have been doing with always making 5/5s at a slower rate) but it’s passable… except that if you ult Kaira you’re in a bad spot, because you just had a +5/+5 anthem. {mrlozano} Ahmotep is difficult to evaluate. On one hand, any attacker or burn quickly puts an end to your card advantage, and you’ve gotten a delayed Opt if anything. On the other hand, left uncontested and for minimal effort, you’ve bought a consistent flow of filtering and draw. Ultimately, I think the feast or famine nature of it is unhealthy. {majicallah} I like the idea of Han’s plus, with turning chaff into “shocks.” The minus is alright, though surveilling three is rarely an effect worth four mana for. The ult is interesting- while I like that it makes you carefully consider your discards, I also don’t like that it inverts the initial premise of the plus of pitching useless cards into pitching potentially valuable creatures/planeswalkers/etc. Overall, the plus is the best part, and some numbers changes (down to three mana?) could help the minus. (Wording, by the way: “You may discard a card into exile. If you do, put two -1/-1 counters on target creature you don’t control.” “Put all permanent cards exiled with ~ onto the battlefield onto your control. They gain haste [until end of turn].”) {ludvikeverviolet} I like Lorena’s plus for a two mana walker. The minus and ult are functional, if not super special. Though I do like how the minus almost functions as a second ult- sometimes creating 4+ tokens can be as valuable as the team buff. Thanks for the entries and for your patience… {Winner} The winner is Tesagk! Your runner ups are gateways7 and ludvikeverviolet!

There's not a lot of information on Throne of Eldraine yet, but we know it will have a fairy tale theme. Your challenge is this: create a planeswalker (new or existing) with either a fairy tale theme; or a theme that matches what we know of Eldraine so far.

Adriana of the Far Lands Legendary Planeswalker - Adriana At the beginning of your upkeep, if you control seven or more Dwarfs, return Adriana of the Far Lands from your graveyard to the battlefield. : Target player gians shroud until your next turn. Destroy all Auras attached to that player. : You gain 1 life for each creature and planeswalker you control : You get an emblem with “Creatures you control get +1/+1 and gain vigilance.” This is basically Snow White. Teh seven dwarfs brought her back from death many times. She is very kind and protective.

{A bed time story}A kid, ten years old, sits with his grandmother, near a the fireplace. The nigh is cold and rainy. The face of the old woman is covered in shadows. And she speaks, with a deep voice: -Listen, boy. Of the tale of Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf... -Granny, I know, that's story. You've told it to me a million times! I'm not a kid any more! -This story is different. This is a true story. Listen. Red Riding Hood is out in the woods, looking for her brother. Alone. In the dark woods. The stalking woods... She walks through the forest, hearing the wolves howling. -I told you I knew, the story. The Wolf will find her, but in the last moment, alumberjack will kill the wolf and save her. -Maybe... Or maybe not. The wolves howl. And the girl runs. She also knows the story. Just like you. And yet, she fears. The woman changes her position. The boy is looking to the fire. -Suddenly, the Wolf jumps between two trees. The girl screams. But there's no wolf. Just a man. With an axe. The girl breathes, relieved. And with a swing of his axe, the man kills her. -That's not the story! The man saves her! The boy stands up. He looks at his grandmother, infuriated. In the chair lies the body of the old woman, her neck broken. -The the Wolf is just a man. Maybe a hairy man. A man full of hate. With an axe. There's no lumberjack in this story. I killed the lumbejack. A big man, with a deep voice speaks. The boy looks at him, standing in the middle of the room, a dark figure, out of the light of the fire. A lightining stikes, and the figure of a man covered in leather becomes fully visible for a second. He has an axe in his hands, bloodied. The boy screams and run to a window. The man is blocking the entrance. A swif swing of his axe kills the boy. Bad luck, Hans. -I don't like stories. So I kill them. Garruk leaves the house. The lightning crackles. And the man is not there anymore.

Galahad, Grail Seeker :1::W::W: Legendary Planeswalker - Galahad :Mythic: ---Equipped creatures you control have double strike--- :+1:: Target creature gets +2/+2 and gains vigilance until end of turn. :-7:: Choose an artifact card you own from outside of the game and put it onto the battlefield under your control. If it's an equipment, you may attach it to a creature. {4}
Story: So Galahad was the chief knight in charge of finding the Holy Grail in King Arthur's court. I don't think he was the best knight in any particular area but he was good at all and most importantly he was pure of heart. His ultimate represents him finding a "grail." The vigilance of his +1 represents the eternal questing and also synergizes with double strike granted by his passive. His passive I think just represents knightly prowess at arms.

The card is based on Merlin specifically, though Merlin-esque characters exist throughout various cultures. They're typically mysterious old hermits with unusual origins who, though we are told they are powerful in their own right, take it upon themselves to guide and mentor the characters that end up being the real heroes of the story. To represent that feel, I decided to focus on Legendary cards, with a soft-tutor and the ability to get them out just when it would be most climactic. Then his ult creates a legendary weapon for a creature to wield, because fairy tale artifacts are often more important than the person who wields them, and can you really talk about Merlin without talking about Excalibur? It's a pretty significant buff to the equipped creature, but without an equip cost, it's gonna take some magic to find a new owner beyond its first.

primarily drawing from the "evil queen" archetype (intended to have a splash of "wicked stepmother" but that came through less) Marion, the Wicked Queen Legendary Planeswalker- Marion Creatures with counters on them can’t attack ~. : Put two -1/-1 counters on up to one target creature. : Target opponent sacrifices a creature, then loses life equal to the number of counters on the sacrificed creature. : Distribute up to ten -1/-1 counters among creatures. You gain 10 life.

Closing this in roughly 48 hours. Side note: I'm loving the entries thus far. That being said, helping me understand the story behind your card is going to be a factor in the judging. You don't have to full mrlozano (though that story is awesome), but just a few sentences of your thought process behind the card.

So, I talked with monger and he told me to issue the next challenge, as he had made the previous one. Your next challenge is to design a planeswalker with three colors in their color identity (either a shard or a wedge). I will evaluate that the card feels like it's three colors, not two or one with the other one tackled onto it. Best of luck!

It must be blocked this turn if able. :-8:: Destroy all artifacts, enchantments, and lands your opponents control. {3}

Considering the challenge is about color identity rather than color itself, I just couldn't resist
Following Wizard's concept for rare planeswalkers having only two loyalty abilities and Sarkhan Unbroken for putting Sarkhan into Wedge colors (plus reusing an old artwork as I was too lazy to look up a new one ).
