{ kefke }I love the "Prowess" ability on the +1, and the -6 is a good turn 3 ult that isn't too earthshattering. As for the middle ability, I could take it or leave it. It's good, and in-color for red, it just doens't feel incredibly Jeskai, which I have to assume was the inspiration. For the record, I also enjoy how the +1 provides a bit of ramp to colors that don't usually ramp. (Red has some but it's usually pretty self-destructive.) { gluestick248 }Not much to say here. He does Ajani things, he does them in the right colors. He's not gonna win games but you're probably never gonna be sad to see him in your hand. I don't feel like there's any balance issues. It's a solid card, but maybe not a first pack draft pick, unless you're really confident in your ability to build a three color mana base. Depends on the set, I suppose. If he's at rare, he's good, if he's at mythic, I'd say he's maybe below the power curve a bit. { Tesagk }Sorry for the wall, but more complicated abilities require more analysis. First off, I don't think it would be too bad to deal with, but I could see some people complaining about the bookkeeping the ETB requires, especially in a multiplayer game with several players running this card. As for the first ability, I'm not sure if you need to note that you can only choose an option once, not really sure about the syntax there, but I'll be judging based on that assumption. The middle ability is good by itself, but in relation to the whole card I have some issues, namely, two of the three abilities it grants are different from your ETB options. This, to me, does two things. 1. It makes vigilance a less-appealing option for the ETB. 2. It creates mental keyword soup, even if only for a turn. Now the ultimate ability is something I can really get behind. It's a big ability, it's flavorful and in color, it comes out at the right speed, and it will really make a difference in the game without just being an "I win" button. { Flo00 }Boy, those are weird hybrid costs. XD It took me a second of looking at them to really comprehend, but that could be because I just woke up. So, first ability, I'm not entirely sure about the ruling on this, but to me it seems like you couldn't activate this ability if there were no tapped creatures on the board? Or you would have to target your own tapped creature if that's the only option. Second ability, +3/+3 and two combat keywords for a -1? I don't think I like that. It seems incredibly powerful, especially considering you can do it six times before Anyu kills itself (more on that later). The ult is a superpowered wall that outright kills some attackers, freezes the rest, and doesn't even have a way around it like paying some cost. Now that may have been alright...if it couldn't come out in three turns. 4 mana for a 6 loyalty 'walker that has such a strong ult at 8 loyalty seems way overtuned to me. Especially since, as long as you're not playing commander, it fits in Mono-W, Azorius, Boros, Izzet, or Jeskai decks, and is even pretty playable in any other deck that splashes white. Normally I'd be a fan of that playability, but if it's going to be as strong as it is, I think I'd like it to be a bit harder to play. { fluffydeathbringer }I do like Alesha as a character. The graveyard recursion is pretty unusual for planeswalkers, I like it. It's a five turn ult, and a pretty powerful one. I'd maybe bump the cost by 1, but overall the theme of not only Alesha conquering death, but helping others conquer death as well is really great, with the added +1/+1 counters to make it useful in a wider variety of decks. { Xenozfan2 }I like the idea of keeping Urza WUBRG. Since all of his abilities hinge on his ult, I'm gonna focus on that. First, it comes out in 3 turns. Since it's exiling lands, potentially incredibly late in the game, it's already probably a bit too powerful for my liking, especially coming out as fast as it does. Second, since the 0 loyalty check is a state based action, the exile will resolve before Urza is sacrificed, which is probably intentional, but just means that he gets to come out and be janky all over again. And it can be done for free because of the emblem's upkeep ability, too. I think I get what you were going for, since it functions similarly (and at the same speed as) Karn Liberated, but Karn requires that you use his other abilities a bit to get full use out of his ult. That said, ultimately, it just seems like it would slow the game down unnecessarily, and that's not particularly fun Magic to most people. { mrlozano }My main problem with the first ability is that artifacts are historic, and incredibly easy to get. In fact, this thing's ult creates a ton more of them, making this an incredibly efficient token generator. Maybe a bit too efficient. The middle ability is nice, and I believe well costed. The ult, as I mentioned before, is powerful. It puts Nahiri to shame as an equip-based Planeswalker. That said, given that it requires the equipment to enter the battlefield, and likely around turn 10 or so, I don't think it's actually /too/ broken. I could be way off on that, but I think it's fun, and I'd at least like to see it happen in a game before judging it too harshly. {Winners:}This time I'm gonna give the win to fluffydeathbringer , with the runners-up mrlozano and kefke . Fun round, all. I hope we see more official 'walkers in these combinations soon ^-^

I'm happy with even a runner-up, Jartis. In defence of my -2, it was actually inspired by the Jeskai's anti-dragon tactics. In particular, this line, "A favored tactic was to ensnare dragons with chains and weighted ropes, and then finish them off with hurled spears."I didn't just want to do a "destroy target dragon" ability, and tried to do something that implied that he's leading other creatures in the tactics his clan use. The idea that he's teaching more than doing is actually something I used throughout his abilities. A lot of my original templates for the abilities ended up being clunky or too wordy. A direct slap wasn't a perfect representation of what I was trying to convey, but it was the first idea I had that seemed simple enough. I figure it as being that, because he's teaching others to use these techniques, they may not always use them as intended.

your next challenge is to make one of the following:
- a monowhite planeswalker that doesn't create creature tokens or gain life
- a monoblue planeswalker that doesn't add cards to your hand in any way - a monoblack planeswalker that can't directly cause a card you don't own to go into a graveyard
- a monored planeswalker that can't directly deal damage or make permanents you control deal damage
- a monogreen planeswalker that has nothing to do with creatures

Somehow, given I wasn't in the runner-up, I don't think it would have won anyways, but I'd already changed the first ability to not specify, not sure why I forgot to update the image. The vigilance thing was my mistake, I noticed it in the design and had intended to replace it in the -6 with lifelink.

I thought blue was the only color that handled "doesn't untap." Obviously there are some blue white cards that do such, but mono-white? Clearly not. Except there is, it's still likely a color-break which is why it's rarer, but, for a mythic planeswalker, I think the hexproof and doesn't untap are fine within the colors. Also, I had originally had the as "each opponent" but felt it was too strong for a -4. Could have moved it to , but, given his shield-mage-y-ness, I figured it would be more appropriate for him to try and stop combat altogether, hence each creature is tapped.

Thaks for the feedback Jartis. I'll lower the starting loyalty. The first ability has a Heart-Piercer Manticore-like trigger in it, so it will work if there are no tapped creatures. But you are right, I should make the damage optional in case you're the only one with tapped creatures. As for the second one, I oriented myself on Elspeth, Knight-Errant, who gives +3/+3 and flying for . Entry: Estran Panicsower Planeswalker - Estran : Up to three target creatures can’t block this turn. : Discard a card, then draw a card. : You get an emblem with “If a source would deal damage to an opponent or a permanent an opponent controls, that source deals double that damage to that player or permanent instead.” I hope this still counts since the emblem doesn't cause anything to deal damage, just increases damage that is already dealt?

I actually had done a mono-green planeswalker who didn't deal with creatures before, so I decided to give him the "War of the Spark" treatment.

Since no one had done black yet...and it seems like we might need a replacement for Liliana after WAR ^^;

Card inspired by my love for that middle ability I came up with for the recent CotW. However, as much as I like them, all tree abilities while not really complicated are rather wordy - so using all three of them on the same card wasn't the best choice I guess..?

Sorry, I've been a bit busy these past few days. Will ponder about a new challenge till tomorrow
EDIT: Actually no, just had an idea. The War of the Spark is upon us, showing us a whole rooster of planeswalkers involved in one gigantic Avangers-like war. As one might expect, multiple challenges within the forum naturally evolved around this set and its planeswalkers in particular. So I decided - to do the opposite! Design a peaceful planeswalker. Interpret this challenge as you wish, but there is one catch: Your card may not be white.

MaRo said Garruk wasn't in WAR because R&D had different plans for him...maybe he's reconnected with nature in his old age?

I'm sure I didn't quite manage to do what I desired, but I had to try to make a red. Knoll, Researcher of Demons - - During your draw step, draw an extra card. Your maximum hand size is 6. Discard a card. Draw a card. Add . Randomly put a permanent you control at the bottom of your library. Play the top card of your library without paying its mana cost. Windgrace, Protector of Urborg Legendary Planeswalker — Windgrace : You may sacrifice a land. Transform ~, then attach it to a land you control. // Windgrace’s Protection Legendary Enchantment — Aura Enchant land Whenever a land other than enchanted land is put into your graveyard from the battlefield, you may pay . If you do, return it to your hand at end of turn. Sacrifice enchanted land: Destroy up to three target permanents.

Sarkhan, Dracophile Legendary Planeswalker - Sarkhan : Transform Sarkhan, Dracophile. : Reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal a Dragon card. When you do, put that card into your hand and Sarkhan deals damage equal to that card’s power to any target. Put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order. : You get an emblem with “You may put Dragon creature cards onto the battlefield as you draw them. If you do, it gains haste until your next turn.” -------------- Sarkhan, Dragonform Legendary Creature - Dragon Flying, indestructible, haste When Sarkhan, Dragonform deals damage, transform him. 4/4 I'm not really happy with the (front) name, but I couldn't come up with anything better. Also I kinda think that the has grammar issues with singular vs. plural, but I don't know of a better way to express this in a way that's also Magic template conform. Note: For the I used a reflexive trigger (like Heart-Piercer Manticore), so you choose the target after you know the dragon's power (and you don't choose a target if you find no dragon.)

Each permanent is an artifact in addition to its other types for as long as it has a silver counter on it. -2 Artifacts you control gain “T: Add one mana of any color” until end of turn. -8 Put a silver counter on any number of target permanents. Each permanent is an artifact in addition to its other types for as long as it has a silver counter on it. Transform Karn, Father of Planes. 4 // New Mirrodin World Enchantment Each noncreature artifact is an artifact creature with power and toughness each equal to its converted mana cost plus one. Artifacts are indestructible.
