Judgement day has arrived! Please no further edits or entries. { sdfkjgh - Scion of Meat and Treasure}When I see this card, I think, "Wow, this is really wordy and could easily cut down on space." You could have condensed the three buff abilities into one. Aside from the templating discussion, I feel like the intent is really cool, but what is likely to happen is that the deck ends up prioritizing treasures over the other two tokens because treasures naturally sac for free. I think adding a mana gate to the last ability is the best way to mitigate that (perhaps a cost of , to mirror the cost of sacrificing clues and food?). I do like the concept of giving each token the abilities of the others, and I'd love to see this design iterated on some more. { quazerflame - Cassidy MDFC}Funny enough, I recognized your design from the Booster Pack Game before I read your note confirming it! I like that a deck with Cassidy at the helm can be built two ways: as an Izzet artifacts commander, while giving a little something extra for having clue and/or treasure generation in the deck, or as a Voltron deck full of clue generation to power up the red half and smash through for 21 commander damage. It looks like a solid design that lends itself to some fun possibilities. { lordpat - Amadeo, Plaza Trademaster}I agree with you on the "ditch investigate and just "create a Clue token" thoughts. As for the actual card design, I have three comments: 1) Why are the clue and treasure generation limited to once per turn, but food is not? 2) It feels strange to have clue generation be an activated ability while the other two tokens are from triggered abilities. I understand why that is, but it's something to consider. 3) This could probably get away with just being rather than To be clear, I like this design, I just get nitpicky sometimes. { Sanfonier of the Night - Ahmed, the Many Faces}Aside from a minor wording nitpick (you want "that shares a creature type with," not "with the same type as"), I don't really know how to judge the power level of this, as I haven't paid much attention to AFR at all and thus have no idea how powerful Venture is as a mechanic. Giving it changeling is a cute way to make the ability activate on every creature wile also enabling it to use other tribal payoffs. { kefke - Nicos Nathos, Master Tactician}This is a sweet looking card, but technically it doesn't work as you cannot copy mana abilities, as I understand it, because they don't use the stack. You'd need to split it into two abilities, one which copies the clue and food abilities, and another either taken from Goldspan Dragon or worded like Zendikar Resurgent for the treasures. Looks like a fun new direction for a boros deck, once it works in the game rules. { Flo00 - Snooh, Slow Scholar}"If you do the thing, get stuff to do the thing again." Not that that's a bad way to design a card. This is very much a value engine, which is great to have in a commander. Sweet little guy, if not particularly exciting to me personally. { Jartis - Sherlock, Consulting Detective}This looks like a fun alt-win condition to try to pull off. I like the tension between "keep the clues to win" and "crack the clues for cards," and it reminds me of Revel in Riches in that way. Nice execution on Sherlock Holmes, too; very flavorful. { ameu - Thalmard, the Transmutator}Firstly, to put it bluntly, your design has A LOT of text. Looking at the render, I can barely read it, and that's on a computer screen with it larger-than-life. Second, your first ability creates an infinite loop - Clues, Food, and Treasure are all artifacts, so by creating one, an artifact enters the battlefield, which creates one, which causes an artifact to enter the battlefield...ad infinitum. Third, I'm not sure what you mean by "permanently" in the rules text? Is this supposed to be "perpetually" from historic horizons, or is this to mean the the effect continues past the end of the turn? If the latter, the word is unnecessary. Finally, in general, you could use work on your templating, but I'm not going to go deep into that right now. I do like the concept of turning these artifact tokens into creatures, and you've got a good start; you just need more practice designing to get a feel for how these things work. And lastly, welcome to the forums! If there's any place to get feedback on your designs and improve your skills, it's here. (and the discord, I suppose, but I don't have the energy to keep up with large discord servers). Whew, there were a lot of entries to get through! However, I'm going to give the win to Jartis 's Sherlock Holmes design, with quazerflame 's Cassidy suoerhero-esque MDFC as the runner up. Thank you all for playing!

Pthez the Suppresser Legendary Creature - Devil Wizard Tribute 2 Creatures you control have tribute X, where X is equal to Pthez the Suppresser’s power. Whenever another creature enters the battlefield under your control, draw a card if its tribute wasn’t paid. Pthez deals 1 damage to each opponent if Pthez doesn’t have a +1/+1 counter on it. 1/1 Note: The second part of the last ability is separate from the first if, so it triggers even if tribute was paid for the creature (if Pthez has no +1/+1 counters). Maybe it's just me being tired, but I have the feeling this is a bit too complicated. The basic idea is this: If Pthez is small, it deals a lot of damage. If Pthez is big, your other creatures are going to be big as well or you draw cards.

Ruxûl the White Legendary Creature--Elephant Knight Wizard As Ruxûl the White enters the battlefield, each of its owner’s opponents secretly chooses a nonzero positive integer, then each of those numbers are revealed. Each player who chose a number this way loses life equal to the total of all those numbers. Then if there’s a highest number, Ruxûl the White enters the battlefield under the control of the player who chose that number, otherwise repeat this process. First strike, vigilance, trample, haste, aggressor Ruxûl the White can’t be sacrificed. Ruxûl the White can’t attack its owner or any permanents controlled by its owner. Whenever Ruxûl the White deals damage to a player or planeswalker, put that many +1/+1 counters on it, and each of your opponents gains that much life and draws up to that many cards. If you would lose the game, exile Ruxûl the White, then return it to the battlefield at the beginning of the next end step. : Put Ruxûl the White onto the battlefield from the command zone. 7/10

- You and that player draw a card.
- You and that player create a 2/2 red Pirate token.

Judging { Flo00} First off, I love Tribute. I wish they'd expand upon it more. I've also toyed around with the idea of a "tribute lord" and never quite settled on something I felt good about. This one isn't bad. It's something playable, at least. { sdfkjgh} I'm gonna be honest, it's just too much. On a card it's 14 lines of text. I appreciate the attempt at 4 color, but it's rough. { lordpat} Forcing choices onto your opponents doesn't have to be bad. Nice catch. Grixis doesn't often get in on politics, but this is a nice, flavorful way in for them, and with a bit of precedence from Ixalan. {Winner} This was a very difficult choice. I flip-flopped first and second several times. Ultimately I'm gonna give the win to lordpat because the design is clean and flavorful. Flo00 gets the runner-up. Congrats to you both.

Thanks for the win!
My challenge is design a two color commander that uses (or grants, or directly references) a Ravnican Guild keyword, but the guild in which that mechanic appeared has to share NO colors with the commander.
So, for example, you could design a RB commander with populate, but not a GR or WB one (because populate was GW mechanic). The "grants or directly references" is added so that you can use a spell based mechanic like overload or replicate. The mechanic can be from any of the ravnica set (but they have to be mechanics associated with guilds, so something like proliferate or amass are not allowed).

For years, Chariss bristled at the limits of model organisms. She started life as a lowly Imp in one of the many Rakdos slaughter reviews, but the mindless bloodletting bored her to no end. Was this all there was? She'd heard stories of the Gruul, fiery with the purpose of bringing down the entire system--maybe to build it back up, but better; maybe to just groove around on top of the rubble. So one night, she just up and left her fellow thespians, right in the middle of a show. Because of the nature of stories, that show molded itself, via panicked improvisation, into something approximating Waiting for Godot. Lord Rakdos himself eventually saw it, and while he thoroughly enjoyed the comedy, he felt there were subtleties he was unfortunately missing, and that infuriated him. But that's another tale, for another time.
Charis joined up with a smaller Gruul clan, and immediately became smitten with the Centaurs. However, her time with the Gruul was also short-lived, as on only her third raid, on a Simic stockpile of old cytoplasts, an accident occurred, causing several of the cytoplasts to merge with her, and her former compatriots to flee, leaving her behind.
To save her life, the Simic medics had to bond her with an Ooze. While she recuperated, she became enamored of the constant experimentation. THIS was purpose! Not the mindless murder, nor the petty destruction, but the building of something new, something never before seen. When she was strong enough, she requested membership, and an additional graft: that of a Centaur, as she just couldn't shake her infatuation with their grace and poise. Both were granted.
As the years passed, well beyond the natural lifespan of an ordinary Imp, she rose through the ranks of researchers, to an upper-middle position, in charge of a few moderately important projects for the Combine, but she just couldn't shake the feeling that there was something more. This feeling was at least partly spurred by the knowledge that had she not been augmented, she'd be dead at least twice over by now. So, she took to private, secret experimentations, using the same cytoplasts that led to her joining the Combine, in direct violation of recent Simic/Azorius accords.
The limits of her model organisms were really starting to gall her, as was the sterile, artificial parameters of the lab environment. Occasionally, she would think back with rose-tinted fondness at her former lives with Rakdos and Gruul, taking what she wanted, when she wanted them. And therein lay the solution: no more models, no more controlling for variables, make the experiments as messy and true-to-life as possible, by opening up the cages and running the specimens through actual locations, actual life scenarios. THIS is what evolution looks like, now let the most fit survive!
Chariss of the Open Cages Legendary Creature--Imp Ooze Centaur Graft 2 (This creature enters the battlefield with two +1/+1 counters on it. Whenever another creature enters the battlefield, you may move a +1/+1 counter from this creature onto it.) Unleash (You may have this creature enter the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it. It can’t block as long as it has a +1/+1 counter on it.) Other creatures you control have graft 0 and unleash. Each creature you control with a counter on it has haste and “, Remove a counter from this: Add one mana of any type.” : Chariss of the Open Cages gains flying until end of turn. Partner with a red legendary creature (When this creature enters the battlefield, target player may put a red legendary creature into their hand from their library, then shuffle.) 3/1

I begin judging, sorry for the 1-day delay, been busy.
kefke - Azure Tempest I really dig spectacle in UG, I think it's a great fit for superhero type of cards. However, the card itself feels a bit weak design wise. Menace in UG is a bit odd, and it doesn't really work very well with flying either. The spectacle reward is also too tame, I would make it so they don't untap and kind of specificly good against flyer (I get why from a flavour perspective, but from a gameplay perspective it's just a bit odd). I also think that is not a very good commander, it doesn't seem to have much of a build around me flavor to it, it's just a reasonably costed value creature. In general, I feel it's missing something to fit the "spectacular" kind of flavor.
@vriss - Karokef So... this is kind of too similar to certain golgari legend... Whcih is a shame because I enjoy this type of effect. I like that unlike Varolz (that encourages a go tall/voltron style), this encourages more go wide with its ability. Still though, it is a bit too similar to Varolz, I wish that it did a bit more to distinguish itself from it. I kind of preffer this though, I think this type of mechanic fits better in a more aggresive card, so good job on that. ameu - Deruz Now this is a cool design and very on color for WB. I don't know if I get the flavor of the card, but I can think of an evil zombie "granting" power to others only to kill them afterwards. The tap ability is also great, and the fact that you need to sacrifice a zombie means that you need to jump through some hoops to get what you want. I guess my only issue with this card is that play-wise, it kind of stalls the game and disencourages others to play creatures in fear of getting them killed. I think you can reduce the graft a bit and maybe up the powerlevel somehwere else in the card. quazerflame - The Fun Fungus Now, a fungus with detain is *chef kiss* great flavor. It's a very cool idea, it either destroyes something or paralyzes someone. I like the fact that as it absorbs something it gets bigger and bigger. However, I'm a bit on the iffy side when it comes to so cheap and efficient constant artifact and enchantment removal. Honestly, I'd just remove that part, it feels a bit too punishing for so cheap. I don't know how to build a detain commander in BG either, and although obviously the challenge meant that your commander had to use a keyword of another guild, it's still a bit odd to reward building around a mechanic when no cards of that nature currently exists. Obviously, that could change, and tbh it doesn't really need to be a build around, it's still a great card. Jartis - Hartar Jartis, this card does not work as a commander. You'd need to have a way to bounce it to hand to use it's forecast ability, and in RG nontheless. The flavor is great, don't get me wrong, this is a fantastic non-commander card, but I don't think it works at all in the context of the game. sdfkjgh - Charris Opener of Cages Another UG commander using a BR mechanic. I'm loving it! Unleash fits great with the flavor of the card but... ehm... there's a bit too much stuff going on here. Why not just remove all of the graft stuff? And maybe power up the tap ability so that it draws a card or something? Also, partner with a red creature is a big red alarm bell to me, it just means that any red commander (not even mono red, just red) can play this for free next to it in the command zone... or maybe judging by the flavour text you mean that you can have a player look for a red creature and it will have to be an opponent because this is UG? If that's the case, I'd avoid using the term "partner with" as it has it's own sets of rules in commander- I think you had a lot of great flavour ideas (graft so that it powers things, unleash so that it frees things, using the birds to fly, parnering with a "wild" thing - a red creature) but it's all put together in the same card and although I would love to say that it fits together it really doesn't. Great little backstory though. Flo00 - Vexan 10/10 Flavor. It makes so much sense, he "releases" them as part of his scheme and then when he captures them he reaps the rewards. I love designs that are really simple and clean, but also lead to good gamplay, which this does! It also has some extra utility in killing pw and some other stuff like that, which again, really works imo. It means they can't block too, which also means that you'll be able to attack safely. It's cool because they might not want to unleash them knowing that you'll get to draw two cards, still it feels a bit too much like a no brainer that you'll always unleash your creatures, since they already can't block, I think there is something a bit akward there. Very simple and creative, great job, and a very intresting take on the challenge, one that feels a tiiiny bit like teaching because the commander isn't really "embracing" the mechanic but I think it's still really great. hydraheadhunter - Karelov Ok, so giving everythign jumpstart is nice but doesn't really fit THAT well in BW (tbh this feels like a UR card to begin with). Giving three treasures ETB is way too strong, especially with that added ability. The idea is good but it doesnt scream BW to me and it seems way too strong at four mana. I like the idea of alt costs for jump-start, but as it stands it's too insane.
So, nice entries everyone, a lot of effor here. In the end, Flo00 is winner with ameu as runner-up, but I love some of the ideas thrown around here!!

Oro, dod Ada Legendary Creature--Minion Reflection Flash First strike, vigilance, trample, haste When Oro, dod Ada enters the battlefield, if it’s not a token, each other player creates a token that’s a copy of Oro, dod Ada. The “legend rule” doesn’t apply to token copies of Oro, dod Ada. This permanent can’t be sacrificed. Whenever this permanent becomes a target of a spell or ability, if that spell or ability wasn’t copied, copy it for each permanent named Oro, dod Ada on the battlefield. Each copy targets a different one of those permanents. : This permanent phases out. 6/5
dod is a word in the native dominant tongue that can mean either "servant to" or "jailer of", depending on the context. In some of the seedier areas, slang use and sarcasm have blended and muddled the meanings into non-exclusivity.

Felt inspired by Landscape 21's bugs. It looks to me like they're building a home out of the remains of one of the animated paper cranes. I worry that this could feel underwhelming, but I think that it does a good job of informing the kind of deck it wants to be in (mono green, with artifacts that die, and a use for plenty of Forests), and with a condition is about as cheap as I feel comfortable making permanent ramp (which even then may be too cheap with some strategies, but a Legendary creature needs to feel rewarding).

Inspired by swamp village here. {Karot} Brew is a mechanic that allows you to create potions of five kind, one for each color, they all have " , sacrifice this: <effect>" but the effect varies depending on the type of potion. (Also colored = card that is one or more colors, I don't know if that's a term that has been used yet.) White: gives indestructible til end of turn. Blue: scry 2. Black: drains for 1. Red: Gives a creature +3/+0 and trample til end of turn. Green: puts a +1/+1 counter. Here are the BUG potions in render (only BUG because this is a BUG commander but there are red and white ones in case you play this outside of that context).

{about the previous round}I admit, Karelov wasn't very mechanically black-white, but he had a good black-white theme: spending ill-got capital in the form of church tithe to 'jump-start' his own pet projects seemed appropriately Black-white. I guess hat didn't really come accross, but shrugs; he was a bit of a rushed idea.
Deep within the swamp, an ancient evil stirred, and Ur'Doth shambled out of the muck, writhing and hungry. It consumes and corrupts, spreading the malessence that wrought it. The onslaught created refugees who fleed the main low lands for the mountains and the distant swimming islands. One such refugee, Hymelson, currently resides on the island turtle Oyebo, dreams of one day reclaiming their childhood home and freeing the corpses of the family they had to leave behind from the rot which has consumed them, and given time, they might grow strong enough to do so. Ur'Doth, The Spreading Rot.Four genric, a red, and two black Legendary Creature - Graveborn Warlock Partners with Hymelson, Optimistic Refugee You may cast creature spells from graveyards for twice their cost and may spend red and black mana as though it were any type to pay for those costs. Creatures cast this way are black and red graveborn in addition to their other types and colors and gain haste and decayed. (They can’t block. When they attack, sacrifice them at end of combat.) Whenever a creature dies to a decayed trigger, each opponent loses 1 life and you gain 1 life. 5/3 Hymelson, Optimistic RefugeeA generic, a white, and a green legendary creature - human survivor Flash When Hymelson is put into a graveyard from anywhere, shuffle it into its owner's library.
