Wow, thanks for the win. I thought I was taking a risk going simplistic but the flavor payed off in the end.
The next challenge:
I enjoy when legendary creatures are revisited, such the Elder Dragons in M19 or Krenko getting a new card in War of the Spark. The mechanics may change but the flavor is still the same. This rounds challenge is take an existing legendary character and give them a new card. You can make them an older or younger version of themself, shift their rarity, or like the Elder Dragons take an outdated legend and give them a modern design. Have fun with it.

That's a very long-winded way to say "make a modern redesign of Gwendlyn di Corci".

Mostly a rarity shift, with some added cmc, but also slightly earlier than the original card Kemba, Kha Regent. Here she is in the middle of uniting her kitties (which she I believe was done with inthat card, at least, that's how I interpreted it). Mostly chose Kemba because she was my first legendary. It took a lot of effort to not name her "Kemba, Catcaller"

HvT : Are planeswalkers ok?
Kytheon, Servant of Erebos Legendary Planeswalker--Gideon Whenever a creature dies, put a loyalty counter on Kytheon, Servant of Erebos. : Target creature gets -1/-1 until end of turn for each loyalty counter on Kytheon, Servant of Erebos. : Until end of turn, Kytheon, Servant of Erebos becomes a Human Soldier creature with power and toughness each equal to the number of loyalty counters on him and gains indestructible. He’s still a planeswalker. Prevent all damage that would be dealt to him this turn. : Destroy all creatures.
This depicts what would've happened had Erebos claimed young Kytheon as penance for his hubris and the death of his friends.

Lets make an uncommon legendary rare! Edit: Old Text Flying, haste Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery spell, Adeliz, the Fire Ignites deals 1 damage to target creature. Adeliz, the Fire Ignites gets +1/+0 until end of turn.

Lets make an uncommon legendary rare! Slight nitpick with the templating. It should read "to target creature, and Adeliz, the Fire Ignites gets". As you have it now, those two sentences are unrelated and unconnected, which means that the power boosting part has no trigger to key off of.

{ gluestick248}Mark, Consortium Consultant " style="max-width:100%;"] Legendary Creature - Human Advisor " style="max-width:100%;"] Deathtouch Whenever a planeswalker you control dies, you draw X cards and lose X life, where X is that planeswalker’s starting loyalty. "We've got a Code Beta on Innistrad! Send in the crew!"2/5 Pretty good. Not an ability we've seen before, and I'm not totally sure if it would work in the nitty-gritty of the rules (tracking the starting loyalty has some rules baggage), but I like it. What I am less inclined to like is the flavor. How are non-planeswalkers getting from one plane to the next? The Mending prevented that 60 years ago, and the Planar Gate only transports nonliving materials (and, you know, is in the hands of an evil tyrant dragon). If he is from the stories, good for you and I'm an idiot, but otherwise I can't see this working flavor-wise. Just to set things straight, ‘the crew’ could be Planeswalkers or some type of robots, and unless I’m mistaken, Bolas and Tezzeret were both heavily involved in the Infinite Consortium, so they might still rent out the Planar Bridge on weekends. Thanks for second place!

gluestick248 : You are correct; the Infinite Consortium was founded by Bolas, I believe, and both Jace and Tezzeret were members before it was dissolved. I honestly never thought about the "crew" being planeswalkers or robots; just one of several things I missed in this contest. :/ I just hit Random Card on the Gatherer until someone came up. Tromokratis, Crusher of Ships Legendary Creature - Kraken Hexproof from spells Tromokratis, Crusher of Ships can't be blocked except by three or more creatures. When Tromokratis enters the battlefield, tap all creatures target player controls. They don't untap during their controller's next untap step. 9/9 He did a get big.

Rafiq, Disillusioned Legendary Creature - Human Knight Whenever a creature you control attacks alone, it can't be blocked. "I was blinded by honour, but now I see Bant's imperfections. It's time for change, and I will do anything to bring it." 5/5 This felt like the rough direction his character would take after where the story left him off.

Urabrask of the Great Work Legendary Creature - Praetor Whenever you activate an ability of an artifact, if it isn't a mana ability you may pay . If you do, copy that ability. You may choose new targets for the copy. Activated abilities of artifacts your opponents control cost an additional to activate, unless it is a mana ability. The Great Work will continue, even if I must turn the gears myself.4/4

I read once in Blogatog that Gerrard should be more Boros than mono-white, so this is my take on him with modern day design standards (also somewhat inpired by Triumph of Gerrard).

Okay, I feel like this is going to take some explaining. See, technically Aladdin isn't a "legendary" creature. Here's the thing, though...ABU-era Magic is weird. None of the creatures from Arabian Nights were actually legendary. Even the ones that clearly should have been. So you just had a bunch of ordinary creatures with proper names; "Summon Sindbad", "Summon Ali from Cairo", "Summon Aladdin". Today, these cards would be recognized as representing unique mythical figures and made as legends, but at the time they weren't, and Wizards made the decision not to errata them to be legendary in their oracle text either. In my opinion, though, these pseudo-legendaries should still count. The original Aladdin stole artifacts. However, he's meant to represent the Aladdin of the stories, and in the tales he didn't get where he was alone. Aladdin is nothing without the genie of the ring and the genie of the lamp. So, this Aladdin gets a little help from his friends instead. He can still get whatever he wishes for, but it's now limited by what fate holds for him, and the power of his genies (in the original story, the genie of the ring he first receives has to remind him that some things are beyond their abilities). As long as he has a genie to call upon, though, he can get out of almost any predicament - as represented by his not being able to be destroyed. Of course, as a 1/1 creature, he's pretty helpless if you (as the vizier did in the story) take away his genies. The original was mono-red, but I'm giving him a splash of blue, both as it is more tied to caring about artifacts, and to give Aladdin access to a wider variety of genies to call upon.

Daij_Djan or shiftyhomunculus pbtenchi: If you look at HvTs post history, he hasn't posted since this challenge. So it makes more sense to see if someone who didn't participate OR a mod is willing to come in and judge this.

Sorry for the wait on this, I thought I had more time to let this contest go. If everyone's ready for judging, I didn't bother putting everything in spoilers so it's anticlimactic:
amechra: This is certainly different from the originals discard theme but I really like what's going on here. The idea of giving opponents creatures more power so they can attack anyone but you is hilarious and the rogue tribal is a nice touch.
gateway7: That first ability looks like an over powered build around but then I get to the second and it balances out pretty well. The second ability might look annoying as well but opponents will really only pay that cost for spirits and arcanes since that really the only concern.
melono: The cost has increased but I don't feel the power overall has, most notably it's still base 2/4 when the mana cost has increased by two. Oddly enough I think I would prefer the originals free tokens seeing I would have to pay to cast cat creatures on top of paying to equip, and my deck might just run out of cats at one point making the trigger less useful.
sdfkjgh: I'll assume this comes with "~ can be you commander" considering this is supposed to be the commander game. This looks overpowered in every sense giving -2/-2 at zero cost kills almost any creatures at early game. And once you get over 4 loyalty there's almost no way to beat this with creatures because the creatures it kills gives it more loyalty. All for only 2 mana?
Tesagk: While the stats on this are an improvement the trigger looks somewhat of a downgrade. While the ping is nice she now only buffs herself where before she was a lord to all wizard creatures.
Jartis: This looks like a build around commander but not in a fun way. Since he can't attack and there's no tap ability there's no reliable way to tap him outside of your own cards, I don't want to put a number of Claustrophobia cards in my deck for my own commander. And even then he only prevents combat damage, one Shock and all the set up is for naught.
Xenozfan2: While difficult to play he's certainly an upgrade to the original. He might be more difficult to play as a commander as every one at the table can see him and know when he's coming, so even though he Sleeps all creatures when he etb he could be more impactful when he hits the field.
pbtenchi: I'm not too family with Rafiq's so I'm surprised with the direction he's taken. I do like simple flavorful designs but I feel like he still wants the keyword exalted since his other ability is a pseudo-exalted trigger.
burntsquirrelman: Not going to lie but Urabrask is my favorite praetor and I can't wait to see what it's been up to. The doubling artifact triggered abilities is a cool ability even if it's not symmetrical with his other ability. His other ability seems a little underpowered seeing as you can't count on opponents having artifacts with activated abilities, I think it would have been fine turning off mana rocks.
gluestick248: This is maybe the most difficult to evaluate. I'm not sure where this falls on Avacyn's timeline between, if it's before or after the helvault or before or after going mad and turning red. The ability is the most baffling, giving opponents permanents indestructible turns off a lot of monoblacks greatest strengths.
kefke: While not the most efficient artifact commander he's certainly the most unique. This set up is a challenge to get both Aladdin and a genie in play and then only being able to tutor for an artifact every other turn because of the exert. Maybe this would be easier if he had a partner "Partners with [insert legendary genie]" to make the set up a little easier.
3rd: burntsquirrelman 2nd: amechra 1st: mrlozano, no I didn't forget to review your card there was just no way to do so with out blurting out you won. Gerrards keywords and abilities are perfect and tells me everything I need to know about him as a character. He's a teamplayer and everyone he meets is a better person for it. Great job.

Thanks for the win! War of the Spark is fully spoiled and I'm very hyped for it. So, in the set there is a unfinished "cycle" (actualy it's not a cycle but whatever) of cards with NNM (two mana of one color and one mana of other color) in their cost. So, your next challenge is to desing a two colored commander with NNM (explained before) in their mana cost (plus any amount of generic). You can use color combinations used in the WAR legends. Tell me if you have any doubt .
