Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of each week, a winner will be determined by forum poll. The winner's card will be rendered and featured on the Welcome page, and the winner decides the challenge for the next week's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our three-hundredth challenge! The winner of the "Be R&D" poll was sade612 with...And the challenge issued by our winner was... In honor of the new Escape mechanic, design a card that uses the word "Return" in its rules text. You can bring cards back to your hand, from the graveyard, exile some tokens, return them from exile. You name it! To increase your chances of winning and to also make creating the poll easier on whomever is doing so, please try to use a render. Additionally, please try to keep your entry edits all in one post - if you need to change it you can put your old entry in a spoiler marked "Old entry" and leave the newest rendition to be seen. Just use the edit button in the top/right of your original post. And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

Scrying Games Instant An opponent of your choicee chooses a card type. Reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal a card of the chosen type. Put the last reveald card into your hand and return the rest to the top of your library in the same order. Should probably be silver border. Also uses return in a way real Magic probably wouldn't.

spazlaz: Warped Devotion is already a thing, you just expanded it out a little. Your card should prolly cost .
Here's something inspired by Chronosavant:
Chronobones Creature--Skeleton If Chronobones is in your opening hand, you may begin the game with it in your graveyard. If you do, scry 1 then draw a card. : Return Chronobones from your graveyard to the battlefield tapped. Activate this ability only as a sorcery. 3/2

Grifter's Wits Enchantment Whenever you cast a spell, you may pay . If you do, return target card that shares a type with that spell from your graveyard to your hand. "It's not a true buyback, but the customers don't need to know that."

In retrospect, I think I should mention explicitly that you may also use keywords with "return" in their reminder text in your designs. For instance, you can use Champion an X, or Dash. Give Amulet.deck and Tron a little boost. I think it's only slightly more pushed than the Ravnica bouncelands.

No idea where Sweep sits on the storm scale - probably not at a very great place, though Still, somehow I just couldn't resist giving it a try:

Haven't posted here in quite a while. Annals of Meletis Legendary Artifact When Annals of Meletis enters the battlefield, look at the top five cards of your library. You may reveal a Saga card from among them and put it into your hand. Put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order. If a Saga you control would be sacrificed, return it to your hand instead.

Return to Sender Sorcery For each card type, choose one: * Return up to one target permanent of that type to its owner’s hand. * Return up to one target card of that type from a graveyard to its owner’s hand. Exile Return to Sender. Changed to make it more clear Edit #2: thanks sdfkjgh

spazlaz: Dice-rolling is strictly an Un- mechanic. You should still be good, since the contest doesn't disallow silver borders.

Planechase also has dice-rolling as a core part of the playstyle and is generally a black-bordered format. Yea, that's true. I actually played a couple of Planechase games just a few days ago, and it's still good fun. Isn't Fractured Powerstone the only card from the Planechase expansions to mention die rolling though? Other than that, only the plane cards refer to it.

The planar die is treated a bit differently than normal dice in Magic - but then again, I think it was MaRo who once said WotC considered a hedron themed mechanic using dice for their return to Zendikar..

quazerflame: Hm, yeah, that could cause an Eggs-esque scenario in that your turn could take forever. Changed it to put a card from your hand on the bottom of your library.
