Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of each week, a winner will be determined by forum poll. The winner's card will be rendered and featured on the Welcome page, and the winner decides the challenge for the next week's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our two-hundred and ninety-eighth challenge! The winners of the "Remember Me" poll were kinotherapy (left) and spazlaz (right) with...And the challenge issued by one of our winners was... Design a playtest card similar to the mystery boosters. Keep your card plausibly black bordered. One more thing: draw the art yourself!! (Use a similar style to the playtest cards i.e. stick figures) Note: Following our normal schedule, this challenge will run for two weeks because of the upcoming holidays. This also means the poll might take till Friday to go online. ~Daij_Djan To increase your chances of winning and to also make creating the poll easier on whomever is doing so, please try to use a render. Additionally, please try to keep your entry edits all in one post - if you need to change it you can put your old entry in a spoiler marked "Old entry" and leave the newest rendition to be seen. Just use the edit button in the top/right of your original post. And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

The only thing I can think of right now is "Enchant card in an opponent's trade binder", but that sounds way too silver-bordered for this challenge.

Oooh, that's a fun one. Card needs to be functional, but it doesn't have to conform 100% to the current rules set.
(Unleash the stickmen!)
Happy (almost) new year, everyone!
Here's my entry. I tip my hat to anyone who can figure out what the card behind the playtest card is.
Trigger Finger Artifact , : Trigger a triggered ability of target permanent you control. (You don't have to meet the conditions that would normally trigger the ability. A triggered ability uses the words "when," "whenever," or "at.")TEST CARD - Not for constructed play

It's, uh, meant to be, like, a Jeskai monk, erm, standing on a rocky hill and using their strength of spirit to meditate while keeping their balance.

Just leaving a quick concept here - will return with a properly worded card (and hopefully some render) after Christmas

Not sure if it's really "silly" enough to be a playtest card, but several of them aren't really unusual, they just do things that could be done and haven't yet. This kinda falls into that category.

Made a new render with a different back-card {OLDrender} {OLD} Render will come later: Tax Evader Extraordinaire Creature - Human Advisor Your commander has a commander tax of . (Its tax will still exist and it will rise on entering the command zone. You just don't have to pay it if this creature is on the battlefield.) 1/1

Scholar of Evanescence Creature — Sphinx Flying Ephemera you control can't be countered by spells or abilities. (Instants, sorceries, activated abilities, and triggered abilties are ephemera.) "Pay attention and you may learn something."4/5 Will render once I get some free time. Ooh, ooh, ooh, the art should just be some sphinx looking at album covers! I mean, we already know the first one is just Elves of Deep Shadow.

Feel free to ignore my previous concept.
No rarity because the other playtest cards didn't have one either

I'm not 100% sure if this feels more like a playtest card or a silver-border card, but I'm pretty sure most stuff that isn't black-bordered and isn't explicitly silver-bordered like physically doing stuff or subgames is like that? Anyway: Nexus of Value 5UU Instant Take an extra turn. During that turn, you may cast other spells from this turn’s stack, and you may spend mana as though it were mana of any color to cast those spells. (The extra turn begins when this resolves and uses a new stack.)

sdfkjgh , @voltaic-qui : Here's the album-cover-gazing doodle, as suggested. It's...good, but I was kinda expecting more than just the one album. Like, picture each of their albums floating in front of the sphinx' face, at a distance conducive to scrutiny, in a shallow, concave, parabolic configuration. But that's just me.

First Come Instant Target creature gains firstest strike until end of turn. (It deals combat damage to creatures before creatures with first strike.)-------- First Served Sorcery Until the end of your next turn, target player becomes a Flagbearer and while choosing targets as part of casting a spell or activating an ability, your opponents must choose at least one Flagbearer if able.

I'll be sharing mine soon. But I'll also be sharing a few "converted" cards that people can use as their render if they'd like. I'm more than happy to share blanks, but I'm not cool like Cajun and wouldn't know how to turn it into a working template for MSE.

Tesagk does it violate some time paradox to sticker a card onto itself?

Had a similar idea to gateways7, looks like I didn't post quite fast enough cus of the holidays. Spent too much time on the render, so hope it's still ok! The card is a play on Ensoul Artifact.

This was a piece of art I found in one of my old art books from school, from about three or four years ago. Hardly my best work, and the quality sucks, but never mind. I'm not sure about the wording, but, essentially, it swaps two players; they now play with each others decks, trying to win with the other player's cards.

Evil Coco - That's a nice card, but it doesn't really fit the challenge. Submissions this time around are supposed to keep with "black bordered" design conventions, and dice rolling is pretty much exclusively a "silver bordered" mechanic. Also, the art is intended to be made by the creator, in a similar black-and-white "placeholder art" style to the playtest cards by WotC.
