Background:
Umbleon was created by Razael Spellborn using the Haven Lotus to keep his workshop and his friends safe while he pursues the man who murdered his family. The lotus itself was an artifact created by Eden Võtke using a mysterious seed from the plane of Ir. It is unknown as to why Umbleon came to have a spark. Razael wonders if he and Eden inadvertently bestowed a portion of their sparks to the lotus or if the seed itself had such properties.
Razael gave Umbleon freedom to do as he pleases, so long as he does the two tasks given to him. Umbleon does these tasks without a grudge, as he owes his very existence to the planeswalker. Most of the time, he practices some artifice and spellcraft, adding to the collection already under his protection. His concentration, however, is often broken by an insistent pull towards the plane of Ir...

Background:
Not much is known about this mysterious figure that appeared on the Arena. What is clear is that the planeswalker, whose name the inhabitants of the Arena don't even know, exhibit features from all three Eldrazi lineages—a conundrum in itself.
Like the Ulamog brood lineage, it has a mass of tentacles forming its lower body and has arms bifurcated at the elbow. While it does not feature a skull-like mask, it is similarly very minimal in that its "face" is nearly featureless. The nose, ears, and mouth are simple swells of tissue that assume a human face anatomically but feature no holes.
Like the Kozilek brood lineage, its torso, appendages, including the most proximal parts of the tentacles, have segmental plates of a lustrous black mineral, either jutting out or floating. A couple of black, horn-like appendages hover over its head. While the head itself has no eyes, several pairs of vestigial eyes dot the planeswalker's arms and torso.
Like the Emrakul brood lineage, most of the surface of its body not covered by the black mineral assumes a flesh-like lattice, including its "face." Most importantly, despite having the tentacles of the Ulamog brood lineage, the planeswalker hovers, easily defying gravity.
Without a functional mouth or larynx, the planeswalker doesn't speak. Neither does it communicate telepathically. Its "mind" is enclosed by a barrier that is nigh impenetrable, preventing any means of communication.

Can Call Aid From: M10-M15, Shards of Alara, Conflux, Alara Reborn
Mana Pool: 115/115
Background:
Razael was born into one of the prominent families in the state of Adelia in the plane of Eolde, a plane that practices geniocracy and meritocracy. While the council indeed changes from time to time as wisdom isn't hereditary, the Spellborn family challenged this notion, holding the position of Representative for Artifice for centuries. And so the Ring of the Fathomless Mind, a ring that symbolizes this position within the council and usually passed from one council member to the next, had become a Spellborn family heirloom. Razael showed tremendous talent. His artifice and spellcraft were peerless, leading many to comment that the Spellborn family's legacy was secure, or so they thought...
Members of the Bluesong family, another prominent family who held a seat in the Subcouncil for Artifice, in secret, arranged a covert strike on Spellborn manor. All perished but Razael, who witnessed his family's death at the hands of Netzach Bluesong and over a score of his best mages. Razael's spark ignited just as Netzach cast his spell to rid Eolde of the last living Spellborn.
Razael planeswalked to the shard of Esper in Alara, subconsciously drawn by its artifice as well as the colors of mana predominant in the shard. There, he studied under the Hegemon herself, his identity hidden by suppressing his vast mana stores while in the presence of others. When Bolas's influence grew in Alara, Razael knew it was time to exact his revenge.
Upon returning home, Razael found out that Netzach had indeed ascended into the council, much to the displeasure of the citizens, who knew that the Bluesong family had a hand in the Spellborn family's murder. Unfortunately, Netzach was very thorough with his plan that the investigative party could find to evidence against the man. And so, it was up to Razael to exact justice. And exact it, he did, slowly and painfully before sending the wicked man to oblivion. He took the Ring of the Fathomless Mind and planeswalked away.
His vengeance complete, Razael felt an emptiness within him. He began traveling to different planes, learning new spells and focusing on his artifice, all the while searching for that which he does not know.
