Time to figure out what's broken, Hannah thinks with a sigh as she crawls into all the spaces between her machines. The oscillator was still functional, kind of. The inductor fried at some point during the shaking, so it wouldn't be sending energy out at all, and the aether-glass had a crack down the side of it. There was an easy fix if Master Sara sent her the tool for it. Hannah smiled at her work. Oscillators shouldn't break to random environmental stuff.Onto the aether tunneler, then. Hannah quickly checks her instruction manual to confirm she knows what it's supposed to look like.
That's where everything was broken. Both resonance coils, the inductor-condenser loop, half the conduits, this random box... This random box? How did that get there? Hannah lightly pulls the box out of the circuitry. Maybe mom'll know how it got here. The structural bits all look fine still, and the aether extraction circuit looks fine, but they're really stressed. They might break if they start being used.Set Aside
Instant Return target artifact you don't control to its owner's hand. You create a token that's a copy of that artifact. "I don't have time for you right now. I'll get to you later."Hannah pulls herself out of her machine. The tunneler's circuits were basically toast. She'd have to redo them completely. Separate the broken conduits from the working ones, break and rebuild the aether extraction circuit, then continue on. "Such is the life of a circuit...-ist," Hannah mused aloud. She lifted her transceiver a bit and commanded, "Contact Master Sara." cajun
I was very confused about why it was colored, then why it was green, and then it all just kinda made sense. 8/10
"Hey Hannah, everything alright?"
Hannah shook her head, knowing Master Sara couldn't see her. "Some shaky-thing happened like they have in Ria-Demai. The Tunneler's circuits are all busted."
"Pff," Master Sara replied with exasperation. "Right, what do you need?"
"Three inductors, three condensers, thirty feet of conduits, three resonance coils, and a... uh... aether-glass smoothy thingy."
"Aether-glass smoothy thingy, check," Master Sara chuckled. "Aether tunneler should only need two resonance coils though."
"Yeah, I can explain later if what I'm trying to do works. Could I also get a blank transceiver?"
"Hm... Is this for this project or for something on the side?"
"It's something else I really want to do."
"Can I charge you for it, then?"
"Yeah, sure."
"Sure, I'll get one of those sent over to you too then."

Arina finally got to rest after the catastrophic events Malextros brought with him, but even unexpected consequences remain. Aylin storms into her residence, her hair raised as though she were in water, with rocks circling around her head. One look at her face will give Arina all the information she needs: she's here to fight. "Malextros has been defeated" says Aylin impassively "Not thanks to you, might I add..." She glares silently at the cryomancer with murderous rage. "You betrayed me, Arina, the so-called assassin that killed whatever the hell Kirino was couldn't stand her ground against a Demon" she says bitterly "The fun fact is I didn't even care enough about you to feel betrayed if you sold me to the Demon. If you'd had just done it, I would've been fine with it, because all we had was a small business deal... But the fact that you tried to warn me -after already doing the damage- means you care about me, so why would you betray someone you care about? My other theory is you did it just to feel better about yourself... which still makes you a horrible person, by the way."Hurtful Blame Sorcery Each of up to two target creatures get -X/-X until end of turn. Guilt is the blade that cuts deepest and hurts the most.

Arina backs away and readies a spell by her side to block whatever Aylin's next attack is.
"Hannah had fallen sick. The demon offered me an answer to what afflicted her so I could handle it."
"When he made his attack against you, Hannah was in a state of near-death, and the last time I fought a being of his power she still managed to locate her. I had to stay here to ensure she survived and recovered." Arina puts her free hand on her waist. "Which was necessary, by the way! When a certain hot-headed geomancer destroyed the aetheric atmosphere she needed to recover and when that was followed by an attack against her by the demon. If I had left her side, I would have lost Hannah!"Hurtful Blame is hurtful. I'm not entirely certain who the second target is supposed to be but given Death Wind is instant for a mana cheaper and can hit another target, this is probably fine? Reminds me of Malicious Affliction in a way. 8/10 Defensive Retort Instant Counter target noncreature spell. If that spell would be countered this way, exile it instead of putting it into its owner's graveyard. Its controller loses 2 life.

Defensive Retort: was gonna subtract points for it being a better Dissolve, then realized it's noncreature XD. 9/10. Aylin listens to Arina's explanation. She can tell Arina is expecting an attack from her, so what follows is completely unexpected, even for her.The rocks circling around the geomancer's head drop harmlessly to the ground as she begins laughing. It is not a joyful laugh, what it conveys is something else. She has taken so much crap the past few days, but this time someone else has to take the crap. She's done with people punishing her for her life choices and, worse of all, all the adversity that wasn't her choice. "Ah, yes, you're a wonderful mother, and all you do is to ensure your daughter's protection... That is why you brought her to this plane right after I hired you to try and kill a planekiller, right? I mean, maybe it was to keep you motivated, if you failed your daughter would die... Yes, that makes perfect sense... "And I disrupted the -what did you call it?- aetheric atmosphere she needs to survive, huh? When exactly did I do that? Being the wonderful mother you are, you would've come to me immediately after I did, so my only guess is it was the earthquake, that's the only "hot headed" incident I can think of that could've caused it... But why does she need to have an aetheric atmosphere -that can apparently be broken- to survive, then? Last time I checked, my earthquake didn't cause any changes to the atmosphere of the world (granted, I may have gone overboard with the tectonic plates, you can blame me for that). Does that mean your daughter cannot survive in this world's atmoshpere? "So you, being the wonderful mother you are, brought your daughter to this world with an atmosphere that kills her right before going to war, a war that could've killed her. The Demon would've come either way, you know? He only threatened Hannah because she was here to be threatened to begin with! You put her in danger: your actions, your decisions, your terrible parenting skills! You are the reason she's in the state she's in. So stop trying to blame me for your shortcomings..."She pauses for a few seconds to let everything sink in."You want to know what I did the night before we went after Kirino? Look behind you" she says, pointing at a rocky sphere carefully placed on top of a desk (thankfully it didn't get activated during the earthquake) "That orb contains a shielding spell. I told Hannah to deploy it if things got ugly. If the plane got killed it would've been the end of it, but if it wasn't, then at least I gave her a way to survive whatever Kirino could throw our way..." she pauses once more "I'm a better mother to Hannah than you, apparently... and she's not even my kid..."Erudite's ArgumentSorcery Target creature you control gets +X/+0 until end of turn, where X is the number of instant and sorcery cards in your graveyard. It fights target creature you don't control. "I know more than you, that's an objective fact. That's why I am right and you are wrong."(flavor represents Aylin dropping all this knowledge on Arina)

Arina was always a being capable of restraint. It is clear that Aylin is lucky this is the case as she continues to talk. While Arina's defensive spell is lost, her muscles are tense and her eyes are clenched shut. Arina's hand is half wrapped into a fist. A dagger on the counter is slowly creeping its way to the edge, although clearly not out of any true intention. If there were true intention, Aylin disarmed herself moments ago. It would be relatively easy to pull it the rest of the way and use it."I did not choose for Hannah to come here. Sara sent her here on Entelan business, guided by my final partner..." Arina takes a deep breath in as her voice shakes. "But I am the reason she is here. She came here to be with me. Because I am here and not in Entela." The cryomancer's dagger falls off the counter and ceases its movement. Arina is... crying? This Arina? The same one that could mercilessly stare down a God and aim a lethal spell only an inch from an ally without fail? "You are right. What kind of mother am I? I cannot protect Hannah without throwing others in front of her. I do not have the ability to take her home myself. I need her to finish her project so she can leave this place. It is by my mistake that she is here, and even so..." Arina seems to lose the ability to form words through her tears. Her hands come together clasped over her chest.Jesus that's a big punch. I like that odds are you still die, but if this gets on a trampler someone's gonna die. It's also great for this situation. 10/10 Accept Responsibility Instant As an additional cost to cast Accept Responsibility, sacrifice a creature. Copy target instant or sorcery spell twice. You may choose new targets for the copies. "This is my fault. There must be a way I can correct it."

Accept Responsibility: cool card, I've not much to say about it rather that it seems fine and balanced. 9/10. Aylin sees Arina's emotional defenses collapse and feels morbid satisfaction. Or so she thinks. But it doesn't quite feel like it... no, she's felt this before, not in many occasions, but she definitely recognizes this emotion: guilt. For some reason she thought doing this to someone else would make her feel better, but instead it's only bringing back the stinging sensation of guilt. Why are you so weak? says the voice in her head For once you had the upper hand on someone, she's the one who betrayed you, not the other way around. Why do you feel sorry for her? Because I know what it feels like to hate yourself she answers mentally. She really wants to apologize, but she can't, her pride is too strong. "Listen" she says "What you did to me was bad, and you know it, or else you wouldn't have sent me a warning. What I did was because I was cornered by Malextros and had no other way to face him... If it hurt you or Hannah, I apologize, but I did what I thought right at the moment with the information I had..."And I believe you did so as well with taking Hannah into your care. Maybe. Possibly. I don't know, I can't get inside your mind..."But apparently you can get under her nerves says the taunting voice."The Multiverse is full of horrible people and creatures, and the fact that you care enough about Hannah to feel guilty for what happened to her must mean something... you really want her wellbeing."Life only moves forward, Arina, you can either stay there and feel sorry for yourself or move forward with it. I know what I'd choose in that situation. Just focus on getting your daughter home..."Weight of Guilt Sorcery Until end of turn, whenever a creature dies, you draw a card and you lose 1 life. All creatures get -1/-1 until end of turn. Our worst enemy is hidden inside ourselves.

Arina takes a few deep breaths and nods while wiping the tears out of her eyes. "Yes. Hannah will get home. I will ensure it happens."I feel like Weight of Guilt could cost a mana less, since that's where you get your instant-speed Nausea effects, and excluding excessive aristocrating this is probably not prokking much as it is. 7/10 Refuse Death Instant If a creature you control would die this turn, instead return it to your hand and draw a card. (I'm aware this goes infinite with anything that nets 0 mana when you cast it)

Refuse Death: hmmm, yeah, this has written all over it. I wonder if it shouldn't cost more since it's netting you two cards per creature. 9/10. The next day, Arina can't help but notice something outside her place. It's an exact replica of her building, risen directly from the stone, this one actually complete and not having pieces of it fixed with ice. How it was made overnight and without it making any sound loud enough to wake her up will remain a mystery, but figuring out who did it is a pretty safe bet.At the main door, there is a note:"I made this for you as compensation for breaking your current settlement. I have cast a protective spell to make it sturdy. Unless someone makes the entire plane explode there'll be no earthquake or tremor strong enough to bring this down. Get your child back home, Arina."Engineer's HavenLand : Add one mana of any color. Spend this mana only to cast an artifact, instant or sorcery spell. "Finally, a place to work uninterrupted."

korakhosAs Hannah continues work on her Tunneler, Arina begins the arduous process of moving everything from one house into another. Including the pens that were previously scattered across the ground, which now find themselves in the bottom of the nearly-empty fridge. Arina makes a note to restock from a nearby plane.
"Thank you, Aylin," Arina whispers to herself. "Hannah will return home."I can't help but notice this land lists off the card types that happen to be my masteries. Balanced land seems balanced, 9/10 Make Progress Sorcery Reveal the top five cards of your library. You may put an artifact card from among them into your hand. Put the rest into your graveyard. After ages of unrest, both Arina and her daughter were finally able to return to work.

"Yeah, I guess he did." Hannah pauses for a moment watching the cat again. It rolls over for some reason and Hannah is unsure why. It must be just a thing cats do, like how humans do it sometimes. "Mom says she used to do unsafe stuff all the time. Being Shaidosta's first advisor and everything.""I'm kinda confused. Doctors usually ask to analyze me or something by now. Is something wrong?"Shimmerfur Kitten is a really good Anointer of Champions and I think I'd want to see it at a slightly higher CMC with a slightly bigger toughness, especially since it affects blocking too. 7.5/10 (I can't keep designing untap effects XD) Aetheric Revitalizer Artifact At the beginning of your end step, untap all nonland permanents you control. "I did analyze yo- Oh, right, I should probably explain it. Basically, my snake Ylki grants me the ability to smell nasty stuff like curses or diseases. It's pretty precise, too - I could tell that you had aether exhaustion by smelling it on your mother." I neglected to mention that I hadn't actually known what "aether" was before I met her mother. After all, people don't like hearing that their doctor runs on instinct.
I glanced over at Mishka.
"He wants you to scratch his belly. Aren't there pets on your home plane?"Demanding Kitten - Creature - Cat Whenever Demanding Kitten attacks, the defending player may tap an untapped creature they control. If they do, remove Demanding Kitten from combat. 2/1 Aetheric Revitalizer is a pretty solid little card - it gives you some nice pseudo-vigilance and gives you extra mana for counters and such if you run a few mana rocks. A nice, tidy design. 9/10

If you do, put a +1/+1 counter on it and you gain 2 life. 1/1 Meet Demands is pretty cute, if nothing new - it's a functional reprint of Lost in a Labyrinth, after all . I'm not going to ping you for that - it's not like you have an encyclopedic memory for every single card out there.
