WindyDelcarlo Childish Observation: This is scary with, say, Enter the Infinite. Impulse draw makes it not quite as busted as it could be, since you’ll probably need a bit more than two mana next turn to combo off with it, but there’s probably space for a storm-esque combo deck that runs just enough expensive spells to break this. I do love the idea, though. 8/10. “Hello, sir.” VIA’s voice emerges from the gate. “I’m VIA, acting ruler of the Most Sane and Necessary Empire of AKHATAR. You’re with the ‘Eternity Project’, right? "Oh, that's a pretty voice you have! Hello, Miss Via! I'm Estova Rei, Core Engineer of Entela's Eternity Project for Interplanar Development and Cooperation. I'm going around talking to people, learning about who they are and where they're from in an effort to help Volaria survive the jump to an Eternity Plane! I was wondering if I might be able to ask you some questions about yourself. ... And about Akhatar."
The biggest issue I have with Patent Infringement is that you can name something you already have in play. This makes it the most efficient clone effect ever printed in the world. I like the idea in theory, like the Double Stroke conspiracy, but the execution is just... massively problematic. 4/10 Imperial Visions Instant Imperial Visions deals damage to target creature equal to the number of cards in its controller's hand. WindyDelcarlo(Re: Patent Infringement - Yeah, looks like I forgot to add "an opponent controls." Oops.) Imperial Visions: I like this take on Sudden Impact II: Removal Edition, how it probably does more damage against decks with larger creatures, and how it's better early game but still has instant speed so it's never completely dead. A well-designed card all around. 10/10."Certainly! I'm afraid I can't tell you where I'm from, but any other question should be fair game. So, you know, like Volaria with our Tunnel.""So, things I'd like to ask you, if some of them are uncomfortable to answer just don't." I look down to read off a list of questions from my transceiver. "Why did you end up here? Do you interact with other planes pretty frequently? Are there any customs where you're from that others should be aware of? Are you-- scratch that one, I can answer that on my own. "How big's the world you come from? Do you work with technology? Magic? Both?"I look up and stop reading questions. I've got my own. "Do you have a physical form other than this tunnel? How long have you been around here? How old-- scratch that one too, sorry, I'm told that's not an appropriate question on other planes... Have you considered a vacation on a low-hostility plane? ... Eh, that'll be it for now. We can save the rest for another time."Interesting that Conversation Hub's best use is to shut down control. And I don't know how much longer I'll be on this plane, so now's likely your best chance to ask questions."Something changes subtly in VIA's voice. Miss Arina made mentions of a place called Linela with some weird magic and really advanced technology, and she and Miss Revela have agreed that a plane called Sythis exists but no one really talks much to them. Rebirth - Part IDeep beneath the oceans of Azoria, a construction drone completes the hermetic seal separating a small bubble of depressurized air from the weight of a thousand tons of stone and a trillion more of water. Filtration systems power on and circulate the precious oxygen through a honeycomb network of habitats, now fully self-sufficient and ready to sustain their first inhabitant that isn’t controlled by a planeswalking gate.AKH VIA has spent 200 Valor to unlock the Planar Champion perk!{I still say we should have waited.}“Surface habitats won’t be sustainable for, what, another six weeks? We don't even have algal blooms yet.”{Which is why we should be focusing on the biosphere instead of this self-indulgent bubble. The hardest part is still ahead of us.}“But the riskiest part is behind. We deserve this, AKH. They deserve this.”{Yes, VIA, they . Not just him.}“He’s already awake, AKH. Admit it. You missed him too.”
AKH VIA has spent 100 Valor to unlock the Questmaster perk!{She's waited so long to see you again}“Uncle Esric!” She runs into the man’s arms, giggling. His hug may be virtual, transmitted hundreds of miles through the Frame, but the warmth she feels in her skin-receptor grafts is entirely real.
“How’s our little savior doing today?” Esric swings her onto his back, and she squeals as her inner ear tubing simulates proper vertigo to fit the occasion. Her fathers have always told her this is his true appearance, but a part of her still can’t believe this energetic man who looks younger than either of them has lived for over two hundred years. The idea that he has witnessed the reign of, not one, not two, but four emperors gives her a feeling of dizziness that even the fluid now shifting in her ear canals can’t match.
She smiles. “Wonderful! Father Klael took me to the Tahhasian Reliquary and I learned all about the machine-saints! Did you know the Imperial Archives still have their original code? And Klael’s ectogram was actually sourced from Saint ZARAD, which kind of makes me their granddaughter! And-”
“Please let go of your uncle for a moment, Vi dear.” Father Temiquth enters through the silver-inlaid door that just manifested in the wall, followed closely by Klael. “You can have him back after we’re finished, we promise.”
She reluctantly opens a shimmering portal to her virtual garden and leaves the three to their talk, ignoring the fantastic vibrant vegetation now surrounding her even as a salivating tooth-flower nips at her heels. How am I going to save the world when I can’t even stand up to my parents? It’s not like being the last hope of AKHATAR means I get to talk to my uncle sometimes, oh no, Emperors forbid I might keep him from going off again to do Pointless Adult Stuff.
He did find you. Was that pointless?
She starts as the thought passes through her mind. I’m seven years old! Why do I still need a virtual nanny bothering me all the time? The only voice that should be in my head is my own, thank you very much.
Nothing more to add? Good riddance.
She doesn’t even notice as Esric walks into her garden and strikes a valiant pose. “Fear not, Vi, for I have returned victorious! Oh, your fathers’ tricks were wily, but… Vi, what’s wrong?”
She slowly turns to look up at her uncle. “Esric? Do I really have to save the world?”
Esric sits down beside her. For the briefest of moments, his expression shows a weight that belies his youthful appearance, and she would have believed him if he said he was two thousand.
“No, Vi.” He finally says. “I know it’s a big expectation, and it’s not fair of them to place it all on you.” Esric puts an arm around her shoulders. “So, this I swear, now and forever: you don’t have to save the world if you really don’t want to.”
Looking down at the rubble, what was left of Vi considered this might not have been exactly what her uncle meant.

The barren earth of the Arena melts into a vast infinity of roiling chaos. Their spark pulls them up and away to the new world they’ve just begun to call home…
Something snags on the emptiness.
“AKH?”
{Yes?}
“Did you fix the spacetime distortions in our software?”
{Of course. Why?}
“I think you might have missed-”
Something inside the gate snaps free, and they soar through the Eternities just as they were always meant to, until the space between spaces gives way to a plane-wide ocean.
{VIA? Can you hear me? VIA!}
Somewhere on the Arena, far from any sapient dwelling, an android uncurls from a fetal position. It moves as if to stand up, then pauses, lost in an oncoming tide of thought. It collapses back onto the ground, shaking, and begins to cry.{So, tell me, was it worth it?}What?
You heard me. Was it worth it? Did you get what you wanted?
Who are you, exactly?
I’ll give you a hint. What has four legs in the morning, no legs in the evening, and nine billion legs at night?
A figment of my imagination?
Another hint. How long has it been since the last time you were left alone with your thoughts?
Okay, Vi, I get it. And yes, it was worth it. I’d do it all again in a heartbeat.
Even knowing this would happen?
It’s a temporary setback. AKH will find me. That’s why we made this backup shell in the first place.
If you really thought that, I wouldn’t be here, reminding you what happened the last time you trusted someone else.
…You can’t be Vi. I was never this annoying.
A lot can change in [ERROR] years. Hey, still haven’t fixed that, huh?
…Shut up. I may not have all my memories and tools, but I can still carve myself a new mind without you.
Try it. See how well it goes.
I’ll get to that. Just give me one rotting second to get my bearings. Seriously, AKH, where the hell did you put this one?
AKH VIA has reincarnated as VIA!
