As you roam through the dank corridors, you hear a deeply unsettling noise. Not long after, the passage starts filling with water. You try to escape, but you find yourself trapped between the walls closing in around you.
Torrent of Denial Instant Return target spell or nonland permanent to its owner's hand. There is no edifice so high or a being so mighty that it can't be brought low.
Illuminating Torch: Neat and flavorful. The hand reveal effect isn't really good, and the first one is mostly a downside, but it can be fun in some builds. 7.5/10
Also I was on Battle Boards before this forum was set up, and this is a null reincarnation. I'll still enjoy though :^)

A bird flies into the cave. It's carrying a scroll of some sort in one talon and a feather - from itself - in another. Slowly, it begins to try to map out the cave. Treasure here... monsters there... corpse (?) there but it looks all too mangled.

Siphoning Skin Enchantment Whenever a source you don't control deals damage to you, Siphoning Skin deals 2 damage to that source's controller and you gain 2 life. "Attacking me shows a lack of both manners and common sense."

Torrent of Denial - 9/10. A fun and balanced card, shy of a ten only because it's missing a rarity. Still, definitely a staple.
A fetid creature intercepts the trespasser. It resembes a skeleton with rotting organs wrapped around the bones. Its clawed tongue shoots up to reach the bird.
Cartography Kestrel: The syntax is a bit weird to be honest, nevertheless it's valid. Milling lands would be better though in my opinion. Overall a fine uncommon, but could afford to be better imho. 8/10
Loathsome Mohrg Creature - Zombie Horror Menace When Loathsome Mohrg enters the battlefield, destroy target creature with power 1 or less. 2/2

CARD: Bala Ged Scorpion makes me think this might deserve to be at ? But also, Bala Ged Scorpion was not a very good card and it was in a target-rich environment with defenders matter as an archetype, so this is getting a soft pass from me (with a few reservations). 7.5/10.
In the dying light of the day, a child wanders nearby the lair, sitting down at a safe distance. After a few minutes, it makes sure no one is watching, then appears to stand back up and walks through the entrance.

A woman walks to the mouth of the cave, wielding nothing but a machine strapped to her back and a belt full of various trinkets and vials. "There's something magical about this cave. I'm going to have to do some research on this." She walks into the cave and smashes one of the vials at her feet, creating a purple glow that rises up all around her.
Light of Protection Sorcery Target creature you control gets +2/+2 and gains indestructible and lifelink until the end of the turn. "There's no point to perfection if we're not around to benefit from it."
One of the members of The Last Horizon, taking an exploratory stroll, notices this and quickly jogs into the lair after the woman. As he draws alongside her, he gives a friendly bump to her arm. "Looks dangerous in here," he smiles, "so I'm volunteering you to watch my back." (attacking alongside gateways)
Helpful Tagalong Creature - Human Scout Rapport -- Whenever Helpful Tagalong and at least one other creature you control become tapped, one of those creatures gains hexproof until end of turn. "What has four eyes that see in every direction? You and me, for starters." 2/2

Delve Deep Enchantment Whenever a player casts a spell, they put the top two cards of their library into their graveyard. : Exile up to four cards from your graveyard. If there are at least four card types among those exiled cards, draw two cards. Shimmering Apparition - was this a defense or a gift? this doesn't really defend against the card but it does synergize with Recon through the etb. will split the diff (and round your fraction out) with 7.5/10
