Having never tried making templates before, I now have a need of a Devoid template with a smaller text box (more similar to that of a token). Figured now's a good a time as any to learn how to modify templates, but I really can't find any documentation that's useful to me. I know how to rework the .png's, but not the MSE text boxes and stuff. Any advice on documentation etc?

My advice would be to make a copy of the Devoid template and then look through its coding to see what you can work out just from looking at it. If all you're doing is altering the text box then it should be a pretty easy fix, since you're really only changing a few numbers. Just make sure you have a back-up of your Devoid template in case things go wrong

Thanks for the advice! I've actually been able to work most of it out by now, and actually made a more customized template fitting what I want to do even better than the devoid one.
However, I'm having one issue. I can't load images into cards with my template; clicking on the template brings up the border color selection menu. I can get a picture in there by selecting another template first, loading the picture, and then changing to my template - but they get distorted then since the image dimensions aren't identical.
I suspect this is to do with the z levels, as most templates have the image at 1 and border at 0, but transparent ones have it reversed. And I can load images into the other transparent templates with no issues, so I'm not sure what's going on.
Any ideas?
And thanks again!
EDIT: Also, one more question. A lot of the templates work together so that if you have cards using different templates, they're still listed as part of the same set; if I have one card using the M15 standard template and another using the M15 devoid template, they'll be numbered as 1/2 and 2/2. But any cards I use my template on are numbered separately; if I were to add a third card, the first two would remain 1/2 and 2/2, while mine would be 1/1. Is there a way around this?

Looking in Devoid's style, I believe the way it handles selecting the image underneath the colour border is by using masks. It uses image_mask_inv.png as a selection mask, so even though the border is at z level 1 you can still select z level 0 through it.
As for making sure the set code still lines up, copying the code directly from another template should work fine. I don't know why it wouldn't.

Thanks, cool! Image selection works now thanks to that method
I still don't know what code I should copy though to make the numbering work; even making a straight up copy of my own template, just with different names, separates them into two different ones.

The bit of code that sets the card's code is just below where the extra card fields start.
extra card field: type: text name: card code save value: false script: if set.automatic_card_numbers and not styling.remove_from_autocount then forward_editor(prefix: card_number_m15() + "/" + card_count_m15() + " " + rarity_code() + " ", field: card.card_code_text) else combined_editor(field1: card.custom_card_number, separator: " " + rarity_code() + " ", field2: card.card_code_text) Copying that exactly should make it automatically work out the card code in exactly the same way as the other cards in your set regardless of which template they use. If that doesn't work, maybe post your code so people can take a look at it and pitch in?

Thanks a lot, got it to work!
EDIT: removed question I managed to find answer to on my own
